Hi Fibre cereal

Postby smileyguy » Thu Apr 05, 2007 11:22 pm

I read or heard somewhere about having a high fibre breakfast keeping you full longer. It's worked a treat for me and I have been having All Bran for brekkie every morning for the last 3 months (very disciplined I Know!) I actually enjoy it though. Mind you, I often had no breakfast before my diet.

A good tip I found is that I prefer the No-Frills brand and it's 1/4 of the price!!!

High fibre brekkies are great :D I have Bran Plus all the time, it's the highest fibre cereal you can get (20.4g of fibre per 45g serve), and I just have it with boiling water so it goes all mooshy. I love it :D

Have to admit I like all bran occasionally, as long as the milk is icy cold. I do try to skip the breakfast cereals as much as I can, though they are quick if things are running late in the morning. I like porridge in the winter, and I buy the home brand. It is about a dollar for a big bag, and my eldest even eats it for afternoon tea (teenage boys *sigh*)

If you keep eating all bran every morning, Derryn Hinch might turn up at your door and give you an all bran challenge medal

Judy :D

I ALWAYS have icy cold milk!! Yummo!

I've vowed not to touch things like Nutri grain ever again! Mind you, every holidays (I'm a teacher) I would treat myself to a box of Froot Loops for brekkie in the mornings! It's like eating lollies for breakfast!!! Not much difference in calories between most of the other cereals interestingly - especially Nutri Grain.

Bran Plus with boiling water, sultanas and mushed up banana - yummmmm :D
I can't eat the commercial cereals anymore cos they just don't fill me up! They have bugger all nutritional value! Sometimes I have Cheerios cos I love them but I always have a small serve of Bran Plus with it to fill me up and to give me some fibre!

Froot Loops werea Christmas breaky traditon in our house. My dad hates the darn things, but on Christmas morning for some reason he can't go without them. Even when I moved out of home I kept this going... Don't touch them through the year - they're a Christmas food lol.

I love porridge, very high in fibre, but I also enjoy those cereals with the fruit, wheat flakes, bran, etc. They don't seem to keep me as sull for as long, though.

Now i can honestly say I have never tried boiled water with any cereal! Ugghhhh!!!

I guess it would allow me the extra calories to add some mashed banana though. might try it just once. . .

Give it a go, smileyguy!! I prefer boiling water to milk with things like All Bran, Bran Plus, Weetbix, Sultana Bran.. It just makes it all malty and mmm! It's really nice on a cold winter's morning too!
