My Epic Journey

Postby Rhonda » Sun May 27, 2012 11:37 pm

Hi my name is Rhonda and I am 43 years old. Last year I was cruising along walking getting fit again and doing really well then on mother’s day I went to pick up my grandson and felt this amazingly painful stinging going on in my back. I put up with the pain for a few weeks though I couldn’t sit, stand or lay down for too long or the pain would intensify. I finally went to the doctors who sent me to get an x-ray and apparently I had burst a disk. I asked him what I could do to fix it and he said that there was nothing I could do(I have since found out that this is not true). Well I felt sorry for myself for a few months (had my own little pity party) got over it and thought I have to do something or I am never going to get past this.

I decided that this was going to be my year to look after me. I gave up smoking on the 3 January, I joined the gym and decided to change my career and do something new so I am studying photography. I have never held a drivers licence so I decided it was about time I got one of those, I go for my P’S on Tuesday (Fingers crossed I get it). I was going to the gym probably 3 – 4 times a week with a friend up until Easter. The poor thing has had some of her own problems and hasn’t been back on a regular basis, so I haven’t been going as I depended on her to get there, but like I said fingers crossed that problem will be solved Tuesday.
I have around 60 kg to lose now as I have put on around 30 since I have not been exercising. It is going to be an epic journey but one I’m hoping to share with you guys.

I’m a Monday girl so I will post my
Start weight
Goals ect in the morning

I’m too young to feel this old ...

Hi Rhonda

Great to have you on board in the forum. I have read your story and hope that we can encourage you to chip away and not be too hard on yourself. It will happen in small steps and it sounds like you are ready. Fantastic you are going for your P's, good luck with that, let us know when you have your license, it is a great feeling once you get it.

Don't forget to check in and let us know how you go each week, we read everyone's progress and milestones and even understand their hiccups. There are always bad days, as long as you pick yourself up and dust yourself off and start the next day with a new outlook you can make it.

Look forward to your progress this week.

Sharrelle from the weightloss.com.au team.

Congratulations Rhonda!

Now you can go anywhere without having to rely on others and that is a great feeling.

Although in saying that don't rely too heavy on the car, don't forget to walk places where you can.

You go girl

I’m sorry guys I know it was a dreadful day for food but my nerves got the better of me
I didn’t go to the gym like I said I would, to be honest I didn’t realise how daunting it was going to be to just go out by myself. Anyway tomorrow is another day (time to go visiting friends that are close by to build up my confidence) then off to the gym tomorrow night.
Have a good day tomorrow

Wow what a day, I dropped in on a few friends today and that was fun. It’s nice to be able to go out and do what I want to do and not feel like I’m inconveniencing everyone. I didn’t get home until 2pm so my lunch was late today. Anyway I’m so tired I’m just rambling....

Breakfast
2 crumpets
1 teaspoon marg
Vegemite
Banana
Cup of tea

Snack 4 coffees

Lunch
Warm beef salad (omg sooooo yum)
Cup of tea

Exercise
30 min exercise bike

Dinner
Can of soup
2 slices multi grain bread
Cup of tea

Snack
1 coffee
Have a good day tomorrow

I forgot to post 2 litres of water for yesterday
Breakfast
2 slices multigrain toast
Peanut butter
2 coffees

Exercise
3x set 10 push ups
3 x set 12 leg press at 70kg
3 x set 12 chests press 20 kg
Exercise bike 15 minutes

Snack
1 orange
1 coffee

Lunch
Tuna and salsa pinwheels
1 coffee

Dinner
2 eggs scrambled with 1 tablespoon skim milk

Hi Rhonda

Great idea to use Sunday as a cooking day.

Visit our recipe pages which are healthy and cook a soup and a dinner so you can eat throughout the week and let us know how you go.

Thank you for keeping an eye on me Sharrelle.
I have found your wonderful recipes and your everyday weight loss plan and I love it, it is where I am getting a lot of my food plan from. I know I haven’t done it justice this week but I will keep at it.
I am also a fussy eater when it comes to good foods, I don’t like a lot of vegetables or seafood. I’m not a fan of fish but I’m trying to add it to my food plan because I know it is so food for me.
I am staying away from things that have processed sugar and fats in them as much as possible. I love fried foods and sugars so I think the more I stay away from it the better, it is very addictive. Even when it tastes disgusting you still want it and that has to tell me something.
Have a good day
