May I suggest that if you want to start running you that you try what I did. I introduced slowly jogs of very small distances (from one lamp post to the next) in my walks. As I grew more fit and confident I gradually increased them until I was running not walking all the way. This idea has the added advantage of helping you get your running technique right before doing damage to knees and ankle joints. The small jogs teach you what works best for your legs and you can stop and change until you get it right.
It does sound like a good recipe worth trying. I would loose the garlic (can't stand the stuff). For those who are reducing their calorie intake - I suggest that instead of two wholegrain toast slices try having one only. You've got to cycle around Uluru to get two for lunch.
