So Nikki has inspired me. As of now I am giving up diet softdrinks :!: (and non diet of course).

Anyone else want to quit too?

I quit maybe six weeks ago... use to drink loads of diet pepsi but now drink loads of diet mineral waters or flavoured waters ... very few cals... anyone have any criticism of these?

Not me!

*clings tightly to her bottle of pepsi max*

However, I will do it once I reach my goal weight. It will become an 'occasional drink' but I think I rely on it too much at the moment as a treat so I'll hang onto it for a bit longer. I have one can a day - moderation, eh?

Good luck to the rest of you!

I feel a bit guilty joining this challenge, because I drink very little diet soft drink any more anyway. I usually only drink it with vodka now. So this is really a personal challenge to give up vodka, which I find way harder than giving up soft drink!

I would love to kick the 'diet' drink habbit desperately. I think I have a real problem with it . I drink zero coke, diet coke or pepsi max everyday and a friend of mine told me the phenylalanine used in diet drinks is really bad :?. It doesn't sound good .

So count me in (as of tomorrow) and lets see how we go! John, I love mineral water, but what are the flavoured waters you drink?

Good luck, Lanexo

I only drink the stuff when I'm mixing it with alcohol. I dunno.. I just prefer water. I used to drink a lot of juices but yeah, drinking nothing but water when I'm not drinking alcohol is just a habit that has stuck since I started weight-loss a couple of years ago.

However! I eat dill pickles pretty much every day >_< I cannot get enough of the things. So the challenge for me will be to try and kick those water-retaining little censored.

(Yes I also crave the expensive strawberry icecream that comes in those black tubs.. what is it called, conissuer?.. but I'm not pregnant  )

at woolies they have home brand orange and mango... 1.5 litre bottles I think for .85c .... must admit they are my favourite..

also over chrissie stocked up with loads of $1 a bottle of diet rips (various flavours - all good) from The Warehouse... 1.25 litre bottle... my favs are the grape and cranberry/boysenberry... totally weaned off diet pepsi now which is good..

got the kids drinking them instead of coke and stuff. theres minimum calories in them.

Thanks for that John. I will have a look at the shops. I must get the kids off diet drinks too, I 'm sure that's where it all starts. God knows, they'll blame me for their pepsi addiction one day .

yep we are responsible for our kids diets... have always kept them away from the bad stuff *even eaten it myself to save it from them in the past lols  but now I'm more and more strict on them... Maccas is a once a week treat (no in betweenies) and we dont stock a lot of stuff in the house anymore... (out of sight out of mind)... hopefully educating them now will save grief down the track... I know I was never educated on any of this and could basically have what i wanted.. was a different life back then tho in the 60s and 70s

Rgds.. john

This is harder than I thought. Why didn't I say I'd quit on Tuesday. How can one give up caffeine on a Monday? At least I have 3 hours of meetings this afternoon to avoid the temptation.

In the meantime, am going to the foodcourt in search of a replacement drink...
