Well I'm finding this really, really hard :?. John, I purchased some flavoured mineral water and although it is very nice, there is something about diet coke/zero coke I crave .

So far I've not been nearly as bad, but as I've cut out so much like Milkyway said earlier, I rely on it too much as a treat.

How is everyone else doing?

This challenge may bet me, but I'm still trying. Lane xo

Only Day 4 for me without PepsiMax,
HARD HARD HARD I even looked up
Pepsi Max to see why its so bad lol.
Yes its bad, Only a bit easier is the fact that
I dont have any in the house, and I dont want
to go out to the shops to buy any.
Hows everyone else going?

I'm finding it really hard too. I had a 3-4 can a day habit (sometimes more if I worked really late). We sell softdrink at work for charity fundraising so I restock the fridge a couple of times a day.

This little voice in my head keeps telling me to just have one, go ahead, one is not that bad  . But I know one leads to two then two leads to oh why bother giving it up.

So far I have not given in to temptation. I am having some caffeine withdrawal problems, yesterday in a meeting my head twitched involuntary like I have some sort of tick :? . I thought I'd be sleeping like a baby by now but I'm still having trouble sleeping and I'm wide awake at midnight. Oh well, will soldier on.

well done opal... must admit I didn't make a conscious decision to give up diet pepsi, it just sort of happened as I decided to drink flavoured low cal mineral waters instead... but anyway I don't miss the stuff at all... hope you can wean yourself off fully in due course...

I normally have difficulty sleeping, too much racing around in my head so I usually compensate with coke zero during the day. But after 1 week I feel much better. I'm not getting to sleep any sooner but I think I'm getting better quality sleep now without the caffeine.

I bought some mineral water and have been mixing it with juice, actually tastes good. I've also been drinking about twice as much water. Oh does mineral water count in your water intake? That might be a silly question but I don't know if it's just the same as water but with bubbles?

hi opal I was asking a similar question at the start of your thread but think that mineral (bubble) water does count in your daily water intake... googled a couple of sites it doesn't say its less healthier or anything but again maybe someone else can comment further!?!

Hi everyone,

Well I need to confess that I caved in big time over the weekend :(. I need to get back on track with my weight loss so I think I will bow out of this challenge until I get sorted.

Sorry guys, but I knew this one would get me , (I don't smoke or drink, does that count ?).

Tyring to be good! Lane

I used to drink 1 or 2 cans of coke a day and have changed to coke zero. However i wonder if the consumption of diet soft drinks impacts weight loss. From what i have read diet soft drink is fine, i am on the CSIRO diet and they say it is ok to drink diet soft drinks.

Does anyone have any info about this, i would be keen to see some research about this.

Not ready to give it up, but willing to consider it.

I also would like to know the impact on weight loss with diet drinks, I gave up pepsi max this week and lost 1.2 kg and I would like to know if this large weight loss was due to giving up pepsi max or did my body respond to the hard work I put in? Does any one have info on Diet drinks and weight loss?

I have spent ages researching whether or not they are bad for you and i'm still undecided.
There are studies saying that people who drink diet soft drinks are 41% more likely to become obese, yet that's not necesarily because of whats in them but who is drinking them. The people who tend to drink diet drinks are people who are already overweight hence the increase in the chances of becoming obese.
Some other studies say that diet drinks can slow down your metabolism but again they aren't proven correct yet.
At the end of the day we know water is healthy so try and drink more of that. If you really want a soft drink then a diet drink is a better option than a soft drink, but always try and turn to water first.
That said, when i drink diet soft drinks i always have the diet rite ones. They are very tasty!

Cool, i have never tried the diet rite ones, i really love the sugar free agrum that Schweppes makes, it tastes so good, almost a little exotic!! I agree water is the way to go i love adding a little lime juice to make it more interesting.

I shall continue to research the effects of diet soft drink and let you all know what i find.
