My challenge to feel/look better by 7th August...

Postby Andie » Sun Jun 08, 2008 3:11 pm

.....just in time for our trip with friends to Queensland. :)

I don't have a set amount of weight that I would like to loose for this challenge. I just want to feel fitter and look better than I do right now, so I won't hide behind my baggy clothes and invent reasons for not playing games or swimming with the rest of the group!

I have a long journey ahead of me, one with which I am already struggling!

For this challenge,I will start this week - I will make it a point to walk/jog for a minimum of 45mins to 1 hour every day. I will also eat healthy

I will post updates of my success with walking and food intake daily.

If anyone wants to join me on this journey, please feel free.

Cheers
Andie

I have had a pretty bad week overall. - Here is a snippet from my blog so I don't have to retype it.
On Monday night we found out that a very young relative is terminally ill and only has a few months to live.
I won't go into too much detail out of respect for the family.
Needless to say the week that started well spiraled out of control. Between ferrying people to and from the airport and organising myself emotionally and physically, I let the exercise slide.

Back on the wagon from tomorrow morning. I've ditched the car for this week and will only be taking the train and then walking 10-15 mins to and from the station everyday.

Dear Andie

I'd love to join you on the challenge - I think the 8th August is "jeans 4 jeans Day" and I'd love to be able to get bum back into mine!!!

I haven't been on a forum before but I need all the help I can get to get motivated - my problem is I luv anything sweet and I really need to reduce my portion sizes.

I have at least a stone hanging around since my last child - she is now 18months I think it's time i did something about it!

Regards Danielled :D

Welcome Andie!

My 32nd birthday is the 5th August and I'd like to lose half a kilo a week until then...so another 3.5 kilos.

I'm so sorry to hear about your family member. Just do as much as you can - if you can't exercise, look at eating well and drinking lots of water - just make sure you're looking after yourself and your family.

Take care,

Ali

Hi Danielle & Ali,

I'd love for you to join me on my quest to look and feel better!
What better motivation than having someone else with exactly the same goals! :)
Looking forward to reporting in and reading about - how we are all going.

I'll get the ball rolling: I currently weight 76.5 kilos and would ideally like to weigh 60 kilos eventually.
That would put me into a size 10-12 dress size.
For August - I'd like to be at 70 or just under! That would make me really happy!
Current mode of exercise is walking. I am going back to my gym tonight to see if I can sign up again.
I also intend to walk for an hour or 5.5k every night and increase my speed.

Looking forward to hearing what you gtirls are doing to get the required results.

Cheers
Andie

Hi Girls

I'm starting my walking tonight I find this is the most convenient exercise for me at the moment - and let's face it anything is better than nothing! I read somewhere that walking for 3 days a week for 45mins maintains your weight and walking for 5 days a week for 45 minutes you lose weight. I am going to aim for 45 mins 5 days a week. I know I would just set myself up for failure if I said i'll do it for 7 days - at the moment I couldn't do it everyday.

Hopefully I'll end up jogging - I read all these great stories about people who hate running end up running for 1 hour!!!

My starting weight is 70kg (on my digital scales - although I seem to be 2 kg heavier on other scales eg. doctor!!)

Anyway if I could get into size 10-12 (60kg) I would be estatic - The main thing is if you have a bad day don't lose sight of the big picture!

I find in winter I'm not drinking much water so this week I'll start exercising and drink more.

Talk to you soon.

Hi All,

I intended to start my walking yesterday, but woke up with a migraine that lasted all day.
It knocked me for a six, so I ended up going to bed early instead.
I will be going for my routine hour long walk today and throw in a few jogs.
I am reading a book at the moment called 'walk off weight' by Andrew Cate, and it is providing me with some much needed motivation and tips.
Only 7 weeks till the 7th of August. Here's hoping for some much needed change!

Hey Danielle - good luck with the walking tonight! :)

Hi Andie

Well the walking went well but the eating was off the ricter scale! If I could combine everything I might get somewhere!

I got on the scales this morning (tues) and it said 68.5kg obviously my bad weekend of eating hasn't shown up yet - If I put on weight next week I'll know why.

I am struggling with motivation things get very busy and it's easy to find excuses not to eat properly or exercise.

Anyway tomorrow is another day......I'll just take it one day at a time!!!
