Quarterly Challenge - 1st Quarter ends 31/03/09

Postby Fireball » Sun Jan 04, 2009 6:02 am

I'm sick of this stuff dragging on.
If you are too, join me on this challenge. Lose the weight, Get fit and Get on with life.
This year set 4 main goals - one each quarter of the year.
This will make some "in your face " accountability for what can be achieved in a whole year.
Imagine .... what can you achieve in a whole year if you set your mind to it?
Set a goal for the first quarter or each quarter. Lets do it folks

Quarter 1 end 31/03/09 - my goal to lose 10kg will be achieved through a healthier lifestyle in exercising and eating
Quarter 2 end 30/06/09 [to decide at end of quarter 1may be 10 kg]
Quarter 3 end 30/09/09 [yet to decide may be 10 kg]
Quarter 4 end 31/12/09 [yet to decide may be 10 kg]

Good luck

Same here - jump into the 99 Day Challenge or the January Detox Challenge (detox as in give up something shouldn't be eating/doing for a month).

Best of luck Fireball!
Just keep moving! And don't be lazy...

I am in... hopefully just for one quarter as far as weight loss goes but you never know, after this i might find i still have more weight to lose (have no real idea what size will make me happy).

So:

Quarter one goal - Lose 12kg, which will bring me to my current goal weight of 69kg
Quarter two goal - at this stage i would say is to finish off any weight loss needed and firm up
Quarter three goal- Maintain my weight

I really hope to reach this first goal by the end. I need to do this but the finish line keeps getting further away, originally i was going to be at my goal weight by the end of 2008! was achievable when i set the goal.

I think that with support i will get there :)
Start weight: 98kg April 2008
22/12/08- 80.7kg
29/12/08- 81.8kg
04/01/09- 81.6kg
12/01/09- 81kg
19/01/09- 80kg
09/02/09- 79.3kg
Next goal 75kg

Thank you for you support Jewles & Milky Way. As I mentioned on the other thread I found the 99 day challenge after starting this one, but I must admit I like the idea of doing the quarters thing anyway. Good luck with your challenges.

Mumnbub - It would be great to have you join me. I know what you mean about the finish line moving. I had a shocker last year and was happy in the end that I hadn't put on weight! Your goal sounds quite achievable so maybe you could look at what would motivate you to lose the weight by then? It would be exciting to reach you goal in the first quarter of the year. Then while maintaining your beaut new bod, you might set some different types of goals, eg. try some new activities to make your fitness routine exciting. Meanwhile, I will be focusing on weightloss for the whole year....

I am so happy, I finally got back to having my fruit protein smoothy this morning- been weeks! I love it and it gives me the energy to last the morning. Lunch i plan on having some rice paper rolls then dinner some home made meatballs and steamed veggies.

If Eric naps this afternoon I will do my workout dvd but he did have a little nap in the car before so he might not want to sleep

I am really lacking motivation when it comes to exercise- i just cant get back into it! I am eating great, back on track as far as that goes but i know thats only half the battle, without the exercise i wont be able to achieve my goal.
So the plan is to get up and go for a walk first thing in the morning.
I guess you could say i did some exercise... mowed the lawn... gosh thats hard work, i HATE it

Yum your meals sound delectable.

I need to increase my exercise too. We are building a new house and need to clean up this place to sell. I find work around the garden etc uses a lot of energy and causes a nice drop in my weight, so mowing the lawn is definitely a good move! Trouble is for me, that I eat too many snacks and still put on weight. Grrr  This year I am going to really try to stick it out.

The morning walk is a good idea. How old is bubs? They will probably enjoy it too.

My little angel is 17 months old (with his tantroms you would think he was 2- actually he is not that bad lol). He loves when we go for a walk but could not go this morning, he slept in till 6:30 after going to bed at 7pm (such a great night) and now it is raining. Will try and do my workout dvd later when he has a nap.

Getting ready to move always uses up alot of energy so you will be getting some exercise in there somewhere. Snacking was a problem for me but have learnt to deal with it, once i started having a fruit smoothy with whey powder in it for breakfast i have not had the need to snack (even before i started duromine), so mornings are fine for me, it was the afternoons that were my problem but now thats under controle thankfully. I think eating protein early in the day helps get you through.

17 months. That is a nice age - still a baby. Cute & cuddly. Aaaw. (And a few tantrums)lol

I wasnt going to weigh, although I've been pretty sensible, I felt down and couldnt handle it if it happened my weight did go up. [My dog had been diagnosed with cancer and took her to surgery today. It was operable and she will be home tomorrow. We have to cross fingers for the future. But right now we are just glad that she'll be coming home.] Well as it worked out, I woke up at 5am and decided I felt ok to weigh.

Yipee I lost 1/2 kg. I am happy with that because we had been on holidays and held a huge family xmas party at our house on Monday night.

.5kg is fantastic- its a nice stable weight loss for a week. Now that the christmas season is over you wont have to have that fear of the scales- its not healthy to worry too much about some silly scales.

I have to wait until Monday before I weigh in, I think I have done ok despite not much exercise- most of it was incedential exercise :)

I hope your dog recovers well, my neighbours dog had cancer cut out a few months ago and she is doing really well- no cancer! I guess its a great reason to spoil your dog with lots of cuddles.

I weighed myself yesterday and lost 600g which is not bad considering i did no exercise- been a busy week! but... have finished my classes so dont need to rush off early most mornings and get home late so can work in some exercise along the way again. Have not gone for a walk now since before christmas so really need to get back in that habbit. I am still losing weight but its very slow and i am not building any muscle like this. tomorrow is a new day so will see how i go.

Good on you for the loss.

You do need to have your exercise as a routine. I find I haven't got a routine and it is such an effort whereas before I would groan but just go and do it as it was a habit, an expectation. Some years back I was doing martial arts training I was running as well. I look back now and wonder where I got the enrgy. But it almost seemed that the more I did the more energy I had.

On the week ends I often work around the house/garden but we have been in such a bad routine working long hours and not making time to eat well or exercise otherwise and then there are the charity boxes of goodies and the vending machines near my office. LOL

I've been working at home the last few days but not really makng the most of it unfortunately.

I weighed this morning.
115.5kg I put on 1 kg. Yeek. I weigh more than the start of the year.
I know I've been under a lot of stress, and I eat when I'm stressed ... I need to learn to deal with it better.
I haven't been exercising much and that would help with the weightloss and stress too so I need to focus on that. I am going to set up a walking program and follow it!
