ARMS RULE!

Postby GONZO » Fri Jan 23, 2009 8:30 pm

Mild spina bifida means I can't walk very far, and can't run or cycle at all. So until the end of March, ARMS RULE!
Shadow boxing, boxing, bicep/tricep curls, and whatever else I can think of. Theoretically it should strengthen the chest and shoulder muscles, increasing upper body strength. Even if it doesn't it'll raise my heart rate, which means I'll get fitter. Hopefully :D Let you know how it goes! :? K.

You must have read my mind! Did that today (as much as I can, which is sitting in the shallows up to my chest in the river, doing the crawl motion with my hands, and trying not to fall over  ) and have such sore leg and tummy muscles it ain't funny! That was Day 3.

Day 1: Forgot till really late and then simply couldn't be bothered. Ergo, nothing.
Day 2: 10 reps each side of 3 different arms exercises.

Don't worry about putting on a little bit of weight. It could easily be retained fluid, especially if it's hot where you live right now or if you've had a bit of salty food over the last few days. Weigh yourself in a few days time and see if there's a difference.

You can use a pedal exerciser to give your arms a work-out too. They're meant to be used as a recumbent stationary bike so you can sit on your normal chair/lounge and still exercise your legs, but you can easily use them for your arms instead.
