15-week challenge, anyone????

Postby Hurricane Katrina » Wed Mar 11, 2009 11:46 pm

Hi folks, :D

Gosh, I've been away from this site for months!!!! Partly internet issues and partly laziness. I'm looking to get back on the wagon and focus on my weight loss. I've recently started going to the gym and have been doing so consistently for the last month. I go to the gym 4 times a week. It helps that i go with a friend because that motivate me to gte my lazy ass to the gym. She has a wedding to go to in August, so she's trying to firm up and drop some weight because she is going to be a bridesmaid. I would simply like to get ready for summer. When i started going to gym in February, i weighed in at 70kg. A month later, i now weigh in at 68kg. I'm so stoked about the fact that I've lost 2 kg's!!!! I would like to reach my goal weight (54kg) by my birthday in December (I'm quite short, so 54kg is a healthy weight for me). Since 30 June marks the middle of the year, i would like to be at least half-way there. I would like to reach the 60kg mark by the end of June, thereby leaving 6 more kgs for the 2nd half of the year. Even if i can get to 62 kg by the end of this challenge, i will be happy because that means that i would be 8kgs closer to my goal.

Thus, i am doing a 15-week challenge (from Mon 16th March - Mon 29th June '09). If anyone's interested in doing this with me, that would be great. I would love the additional motivation. Weigh-ins will be on Mondays and that's about it. very simple. We could share tips and just encourage each other when the going gets tough.

I'm really struggling with cutting back on carbs- that's always been my biggest problem. So, I'll certainly be focusing on curbing my "carb-tooth" during this challenge because i would really like to reach the 60kg barrier soon.

Let me know.

Kat :D

Hi Court :-)

Glad you're on board!!!! Congrats on the loss of 3.4kg!! (I think i need to invest in a set of digital scales too) that's really awesome.

What's your gym routine looking like? I've only been doing cardio for the last month (stationery bike, treadmill and Stairmaster). One of my biggest issues is my flabby arms, so I've also thrown in a bit of resistance training to get my arms in shape. Just been spending a few minutes using those (in my opinion) scary-looking machines that are aimed at increasing upper-body strength. I don't really know what I'm doing, so I just do a few reps and then I'm done.

I have two pre-St Paddy's day parties (or should i say "beer-guzzling" savagery inducing events) to go to this weekend. I'm conscious of the fact that i don't wanna start this challenge on Monday and feel guilty for my overindulgence, so I'll take it easy. Also, I've been sick this past week (was off of work with a fever for 2 days), so I'm not looking to abuse my body by drinking copious amounts of booze. Besides, i only finished my medication today. Wish me luck.

OK, so let's weigh in on Monday.

Looking forward to doing this challenge with you,Court. Thanks for coming aboard :-)

Hey guys,
I'll join you too! (if you'll have me  LOL)
Can't chat for long, gotta run.
This week only my weigh in day will be tuesday afternoon as thats when I'm getting a accurate reading, whilst at doctors. I have to invest in a decent set of scales soon. The WW ones which do 5 different readings are $110 or $120.... on sale! :? Not sure which digital ones to get, suggestions?
Have an awesome weekend, don't party too hard

Hey Kat!

I love my digital scales - i have come down from 35% bodyfat to like 30% and my water has gone from 42% to like 50%!! I reckon they are fab scales :) Cant wait to get my fat to 25% - that seems to be a healthy range!!

Gym routine at the moment - Spin on Mondays, Tues Body Combat, Wednesday i train for my netball team, Thurs Step (if i have energy!), Fri I do my own cardio at the gym, usually a jog on the tready then 20 mins on the x trainer, Saturday Pump and Sundays Step or Spin!! So yeah i generally mix it up between those classes - usually an average of 4 or 5 classes a week :)

I have a barbie this weekend - I am on Jenny Craig so i have set food i eat every week - it is really just a lazy persons calorie counting cos i am eating 1500 calories a day! Seems to be working pretty well so far - with my gym routine it is so handy having everything planned for me! I am craving a good drink though - I can have a bit, but it is just stopping me being excessive!!
Court x Have a great time at ya parties!!! :) I get weighed in on Monday afternoons at my consultations so it generally keeps me on the straight and narrow over the weekend!!

So ill post Monday night!! Good luck lovely cant wait to report in!!

I'd like to join too if you don't mind. I really need a long term challenge to keep myself focused!
I would like to get down to 89.9, so minus 10kg which I think should be easily achievable as it took me around the same period of time to lose the first 10kg

Do we post starting weights etc today??

I had a pretty good weekend food and workout wise. However I am finding myself faltering during the week with spending so much time at uni (an hours drive away) - by the time I get home I just want to crawl into bed! Need to kick my butt back into gear :!:

Hi all,

I am newbie here and would love to be part of this 15-weeks challenge. I weigh 76.8kg at the moment and would like to reach 60kg by end of june this year. I go to the gym 4 times a week and dance class once a week for couple of hours. My hubby brings my doggies for a walk everyday...and I join them on the weekends when I am not at the gym.

I need all the motivation I can get and love this challenge thingy. Thanks for kick-starting it!

I will post my next weigh-in next Monday.

Looking forward to motivations and tips in keeping fit and healthy.

Here's to being fitter and lighter!

Cheers

I am 99kg now, and I would like to at a minimum reach 89.9kg by the end of June. Definitely wouldn't complain if I lost more than those 10kgs though!

Cool, is great to read all your enthusiastic stories!
To tell you the truth I am not sure what weight I am at the moment  as I haven't weighed myself in just over a month! I know I have lost weight but how much, your guess is as good as mine. Need to buy new scales badly!
Anyway by this time tomorrow I will know my weight after being to the doc's and I will have a starting weight for our challenge and I can set a reasonable goal.
Keep at it everyone, I know we can all do it, let's prove it to ourselves :D
Hope your day is good so far.
Cheers,
Jane :D

BTW does anyone else think it's a good idea to take before photos, so that we can look back at the end and see the massive changes we have made in 15 weeks?
