Morning everyone!

Sounds like we arent going too badly at the moment!

Starr - Dont worry about last night. Today is a new day!! Clean slate and all that. Today will be a better day for you!

Welcome to the newbies! Looking forward to sharing this journey with you!

I am still sick but am no where near as bad as i was. I have been doing some exercise though (45min DVD workout on Monday and again yesterday, which i figure is better than nothing). I was feeling good last night so much so that i packed my bag for swimming this morning. Then my beautiful (read: terrorist) 2 year old decided last night was a good night to stay up all night. So after very little sleep i am feeling worse for wear and fluey again. My head is pounding and i am dying for some sleep. Will no doubt push myself today and do the DVD workout again... i have to do something...

My eating has been okay however. I have been well within points and really watching my portion sizes.

Tomorrow is weigh in day at WW. I am not holding out hope for a loss as ive been sick. But hey, stranger things have happened!!!

Have a good day!!

Welcome to the challenge, Laura! And thank you for your kind words of support. I really love using this forum because I swear I get back ten times the support I put in! We've got a terrific bunch of people here.

I think your plans for weight loss are terrific, Laura. Stevo posted an interesting piece on the food pyramid recently. You may want to read it before deciding what ratios of food groups to use in your meals. It's fairly contentious and it challenges long held beliefs about the food pyramid. Please note I am neither supporting nor disputing his claims. It does make an interesting read, though. And you might find his advice useful.

Kelvinator, I think daily exercise will be vital if you're planning on climbing a mountain in the future! Is it bush-walking type mountain climbing or proper holding-onto-rocks mountain climbing that you'll be attempting? If it's the former then maybe stair-climbing will help develop the muscles you'll need. If it's the latter then you're a braver lady than I!

Starr, I think cutting out sugar for a week or so is a great idea. It will re-set your taste buds so you don't crave it as much. I know that the only way I can eliminate cravings for junk is to cut it out completely for a while. Some people can allow themselves tiny treats regularly but that doesn't work for me.

Me? I'm going okay so far this week. I've been planning out my meals and snacks rather than just deciding what to eat when I'm hungry. It's working so far. I weighed myself this morning and I'm back down to 69.2kg. I even have hopes of getting back under 69kg at next weigh-in!

I hope everyone's having a great week. Keep up the good work!

Apparently this "Mountain" is more of a bush walk and then it's so steep towards the top you have to pull yourself up using chains... I'm very scared.
On a plus note, got the eating down yesterday, have planned out today and things are going well. Trying my best to drink more water, nearly got 1.5litres down yesterday and sitting at about 500ml today.

Have a great day everyone!

EWQ, thanks for pointing us in the direction of Stevo's post. I love it! It makes so much sense!
I know, personally if I eat alot of carbs etc, I don't lose weight and I feel lethargic and nauseus and I suffer from terrible heartburn.

Thanks again!

Hi,

Can I join this challenge?
I know I am a few days late...I could seriously do with some support.
I have about 7kg to lose and its been an ongoing battle, the callenge sounds like a great idea...first things first, I need to get my butt to the gym, the horrible weather doesn't help either.

I know I have to do this for the sake of my health and well being...

First of all...sassy..i think i speak for everyone here when i say- welcome! I hope you will find this the warm supportive environment which i have found it to be in only the short time that I have been a member!

starr..as someone else has already said- don't worry about it- i had a couple of weeks back where i couldn't escape the socialising- i had a wedding, a funeral, a birthday and a farewell party to go to and there's the associated eating of foods other people have prepared- not good if you're trying to count cals! I learnt the hard way that it's more important to acccept it and promise yourself that the very next day you will pick up where you left off on your journey-before the brief interruption-so that it has minimal impact on your weekly result.

Thank you also for the advice with the shakes. I have one more serve to go in the tub I'm on: Musashi "Fat Metabolising" shake (which I don't take every day anyway) and on Saturday I'm going to see a friend who sells supplements etc and see what he can recommend!

Wheelndeal..you sound just like me...and yes, I do believe there is such thing as a sugar addiction. My sister is also a huggggggggge sweet tooth but unlike me, she must have the fastest basal metabolic rate in history because she can eat WHATEVER she wants and not gain ANYthing. Her fetish is baking cupcakes- the last lot she left lying around had white chocolate chips inside with white choc icing and sprinkles on them *drool* How RUDE when she knows i'm trying to be good!

Despite that, my determination was reinforced this morning when I took my measurements again for the first time since Feb 28. Here they are:

Chest: 89 (was 91.5)
Arms- L:28 (29.5)
R:27.5 (29.5)
Waist: 75.5 (77)
Hips: 93.5 (95)
Thighs- L:59 (61.5)
R:59 (61.5)

14 cm lost in a month. So today I've been pretty happy with myself- it makes me greedy for more!!

Can't wait to here how other people are going. I think tomorrow I will take some "before" shots so I can post the the end.

Hi All and Welcome to all the new gilrs, this is so very exciting EWQ to get so many new (and old faces),

Thanks for hanging in there and waiting for me
Appreciate the pm's I've received and I think most of you who knew me from the last challenge we did together that I locked out of my account bc I changed my email address and the whole thing became DE-ACTIVATED (grrhhh)!! - which was incredibly frustrating as admin on this site is very slow...

But anyways, I'm back in now and all ready to GO, GO, GO!!

EWQ- Thanks for starting a new thread, happy to start on monday (30th march), I started then as I read yr thread and infact it was my birthday that day so hubby took me out for a special indian dinner and yes ate heaps but was good all day!! Great work that you have kept under 70kg's

STARR - you are doing super well, we are now both 75kg (yipeee), an excellent effor!

WND - You have managed to lose quite a few kilos, think how much that is!! think of holding a couple of kg's of milk, so i thin u shld be quite proud of your efforts - I am.

Everyone else, so many to name, am happy to meet you all and am sure I will get to know you all very soon!

Welcome once again and EWQ (ALI's) a wealth of knowledge and there are some super girls here, starr and WND, just to name a few!

Looking forward to hearing eveyrone's stories and journeys,

hugs, kg x

ooops, in all that excitement I forgot to mention that on the 30th march I am starting at 75kg.
Thanks to a great number of girls (and guys) on this site I went from 83kg down to 75kg in the past 4months, so my ultimate goal is 65kg, though for this challenge I am happy to aim for a mid-term goal of 70kg. In fact, if I can get down to 70kg or just below (ie 69kg) by the end of this challenge I will be ECSTATIC. :D

The thing is to keep strong, keep motivated and keep busy. We are all here to help each other and many of us have heaps of knowledge and experiences to share.

Some-one asked about shakes (sorry cannot remember who) - I have tried on occassion the fatblaster and optislim. Both are pretty watery, but they do fill me up a bit when I just have those in-between cravings so yes, I do like them (but only on occassion) and I rarely use it as a meal-replacement as it doesnt fill me that much. However, I spoke to s.o. at a health store and they suggested Horley's Sculpt Protein Powder, I found this much nicer and have occ used it as a meal-replacement. Not sure whether I can put link here, but hope this works, see Sculpt Protein Powder: http://www.sculptforwomen.com/Products.aspx
Flavours depend on individual tastes, ie i normally only like vanilla but preferred the choc in the ultraslim! so my advice is try a range and find which brand and flavour works for you.

Let me know how you go.

Talk soon,

hugs, kg

Hi all!

So far this week I think i've been doing well. I've been excercising every morning and night on the bike and keeping my meal sizes down and I am starting to notice a difference when putting on clothes too! I've been carrying a bottle of water around with me everywhere I go and taking Centrum too which I've noticed is making me feel petty good during the day.

Can't wait to weigh in next Monday to see how I've actually gone. Hope everyone is doing well and keeping motivated and busy!

Welcome back, KG! It's terrific to see you again! Your enthusiasm and support kept us all going last time so I'm really pleased you're with us again!

Yesterday wasn't great for me. I teach from 6 to 9 so I end up having two small dinners rather than one. Which wouldn't be so bad except one of the dinners ends up being at nearly 10pm when I get home from uni. Oh, and I usually have a few glasses of wine to recover. Weighed myself this morning and I'm over 70kg again, but that's definitely retained water. It's been hot down here the last few days and as anyone from the last challenge knows I swell up like a water balloon if the temperature gets above 25 celsius.

This weekend's going to be tricky. I have my sister and BIL coming over on Saturday, and an old friend and her husband and kids on Sunday. I'm planning on making lots of healthy snacks for both occasions. I need to contact my friend and see what her children will eat.

Usually I make a tonne of crudites (vegetable sticks), and hommus for dipping. I think I'll also provide salsa as it's lower in fat. I also make home make pita bread chips. I have a bowl of chips for those who want something a little less spartan. I think I'll roast some chickpeas too as they're great to snack on and full of protein. For lunch I was planning on making mini crustless tofu quiches (they are sooooo yummy) and a salad.

Exercise, as per usual, will be walking to and from uni and for my countless errands.

I hope everyone has a great weekend lined up!

Fantastic weightloss Juzzy! Way to go!

I have not been good at all this week, so my first week is going to be a gain i'm afraid. It's really hard to eat well when we don't get paid until the 15th of next month and we have hardly any money left to buy a whole lot of fresh produce etc...
We are living off what we have in the freezer and cupboard etc..so its making it really difficult. The small amount of fruit and veg I do have, is mostly for the kids and as all you mummy's know...Mum comes last!!

My brother took me out for lunch today and I completely ate like a pig. Ugh! I'm paying for it now though, my stomach aches.
I go for an upper abdominal ultra sound and blood tests on monday to determine whats wrong with my abdomen, its so sore lately..especially after eating. They are going to investigate my gall bladder etc..

I'm basically writing the next week or so off...and will get stuck into the healthy eating and stuff after easter when we finally get paid again! I would really like to try not to be too bad next week though. I have some shakes in the cupboard still..so maybe they would be a good option at this stage.

The kids and hubby are having hotdogs for dinner tonight lol. Not sure what i'll do yet...I don't particularly like hotdogs..so its not that tempting.

Hope everyone is having a better week than I.
