Julys No weigh Challenge..........

Postby Shalimar » Wed Jun 24, 2009 11:44 am

Hi all, I just thought I would stick this up early to give people a chance to think about it......

Both CandyCane and I have decided that we are banning the scales for the whole of July.
If anyone wants to join in you are more than welcome.
Those that wish to do it will probably want to do it for a variety of reasons, my reasoning is as far as I'm concerned the scales have had a hold of me for far too long and now is the time to make the break.
If you feel that by not weighing yourself for a month may lead towards falling off the wagon it may not be a good idea to be in on it, but those who think they may gain (not weight  ) from it go for it.
If you want to feel more accountable you can post in here daily whether you succumbed to the call of the scales or whether you managed to keep off them.

Good luck to every one :D .

Hi Sue!

I'm doing it because....

I'm sick of the scales ruling my emotions. If it's only a small loss i think whats the point, if its a gain i think whats the point, if its a good loss - big motivation. If i can get my act together for a month, i should be able to have a big loss and thus gain some big motivation for the next month.

Scales are currently hiding in my bedroom :)

Anyone else is welcome to join. We're planning on perhaps adding mini goals to each week?
Goal: 65-67 kg <-------Ultimate Goal:
For now? No weighing for a few weeks...

Im in!!! Actually I'm starting last week!

I'm doing it because I want to work on my overall health, not just a number. I know when my body feels good, and when it feels bad...I also want to know that I have the tools to keep myself healthy without the scales- because they're not the only representation of how well I'm doing!!!

Well done guys! I won't be joining you but I think it's great that those of you for whom scales are a problem are deciding to try something new! Good luck for July.
35kg lost. (November 2005 - October 2006)
15kg gained again (as at October 2010).
Back to the drawing board - Let's do this thing!

Me too, I'm addicted as well which is why I decided to do this. To my way of thinking it has to stop. My life has revolved around them for the last 18 months or so and it has to stop, I don't like the hold they have on me anymore. I need to move on and past it.
I haven't weighed since Saturday morning so I'm not feeling it yet, if I do it will be this Saturday when I should be weighing in but so far I find the thought of a scale free month very liberating.

Good luck to you with it :D .

I feel the same as you, for years they have had a certain control over me, because when I had the eating disorders. Like you I want to be free of the numbers. I have this fear without the knowing the numbers I will get fat.

If you think it is likely to send you off the rails, it may be best not to do it :) .

Good luck with the challenge ladies :D I'd love to join you but its a bit early in my challenge and I fear without the feedback from the scales I could go off the rails and waste a month. I hope your restraint is rewarded with a big fat - number in a months time :)
