21 weeks to my 21st Personal Challenge!

Postby yellowroses » Sat Aug 29, 2009 1:23 pm

Hi everyone! My 21st is on the 29th of January next year, and I'm setting myself a personal challenge for the 21 weeks leading up to it (brings me to the 24th of January). After the end of my 17 week challenge I have let my weight loss fall in my list of priorities. As a result I have gained 1.7kg :(

SW: 122.6kg
GW: 97kg
Total to lose in 21 weeks: 25.6kg, or an average of 1.2kg per week.

I know that this loss might seem a bit too high, but I think once I get back on track I will really have some great losses in the first few weeks. I'll see how I go as I go along and reassess every now and then.

My goals for the next 21 weeks are:

1. Quit smoking
2. Start a proper exercise plan, starting with just walking 15 minutes per day, 5 times a week, and then slowly increase this. I might also attempt to get back to the gym twice a week to do weights, a boxing class, and perhaps some swimming.
3. Stay focused, and not let excuses and my own negativity put me off track. I'm doing this because I'm sick of being the size that I am, and I want to feel energetic and sexy again.

I'm doing weight watchers, but every day I will post up what I've eaten and what I've exercised for everyone to scrutinise - that should keep me motivated to make healthy choices

Wish me luck!!

Thanks Carley :) That's my thinking too

My official weigh in day is Sunday's, so I figured I'd weigh in again this morning to give my proper starting weight.

SW: 121.8kg

So I guess now I've only got 24.8kg to go!

I have been going super well so far :) Sunday I felt hungry all day, and had to resist eating crap sooo many times (and binging) - but managed to stay 0.5 points under my daily limit (I get 26 per day btw). Yesterday I ate ok, managed to stay 7.5 points under - but I ate 6 slices of bread which was weird. I didn't really have a nutritional day which I think is just as important as a calorie-sticking day. So today my plans for food are:

Breakfast: 2 slices of toast with cottage cheese, tomato and avocado.
Lunch: Omelette with 2 eggs, plenty of veg, and some natural yoghurt.
Dinner: Vegetarian sausages with heaps of vegies and some weight watchers gravy. (I'm cooking regular sausages and regular gravy for my family).
Snacks: Carrot sticks and hommus, strawberry yoghurt & a banana.

I really want to do some minor exercise today and try to get at least 1 exercise point.

I went mini grocery shopping yesterday, and discovered mars red (the mini chocolates) - they're 1 point per mini chocolate. I might start taking a leaf from Sue's book and have one at the end of my eating day.

I had a lung infection the weekend before last, and I used it as a chance to quit smoking - I stayed off the cigarettes for 4 days until I went to Launceston to see my parents (who both smoke). Since then I haven't really been able to kick them again, but I bought some nicabate lozenges. I haven't tried them yet, but I hope they don't taste gross like the chewing gum or make my IBS go spastic... I will be giving them a try today. I'm sick of smoking - I hate the way that it makes my throat feel in the mornings, I hate the constant tickle on the back of my throat and I HATE the taste and the SMELL!!!!!

Until next time...

Omg, I just did 10 minutes of Calisthenics (like squats, dumbell raises, leg raises etc) and I am EXHAUSTED! I didn't realise that I was that unfit :( I just used demos from the weight watchers website which are really good. I stole some free weights from my SIL so I used those during as well. 10 minutes = 1 point so that's done for today :) I've had 3 cigarettes today, but have just put on a patch and have my lozenges sitting right next to me.

Feeling good! Staying positive! Really looking forward to a big loss this week. That will keep me really motivated. I took a sneak peak at my weight this morning and it's moving in the right direction :)

OMG! What a day!!!! I am feeling so so so happy with myself. I only set out today to get 1 exercise point. I did the lunges and stuff and got that. But about an hour ago I was feeling a little low on energy and I thought 'I really really want to eat my entire bag of Mars bars'. Instead I got up, and went and asked DH to come walk to the dogs with me (its night time and I don't like to walk by myself). I told him it would just be for about 15 or 20 minutes. Well, we went, and I just kept saying 'You wanna keep going?' - and we ended up walking for 35 minutes!! It wasn't hardcore walking, but it was fast enough for me to sweat after a bit. I'm feeling so so proud of myself right now for not succumbing to temptation and doing exercise instead. I could have thought 'no, it's dark, it's cold, I cant walk - I'll just eat the mars bars instead and make up for it tomorrow' - but I didn't!!! :D YAYAYAYAAYAYAYAY! So now today I have earned 4 exercise points :D I have also stuck really well to my points today, and am 4 points under so far. I might have some fruit and yoghurt before bed if I feel like it though (which will bring me to 1.5 points under + 4 exercise points). I need more fruit. I find that when I try to add more vegies to my diet (like I did today) I tend to eat less fruit, and when I barely eat any vegies I have heaps of fruit. So weird. Anyway.

Tomorrow will be a challenge - I'm at uni for the day. I have my meals planned and my 'compulsory' exercise is about 20 minutes walking to and from the bus stop (1 exercise point). Hopefully I won't go to the food court and get anything... it's a bit hard when it's right next to my lecture hall and my lecture finishes at 1pm and then I have an hour between my lecture and my tute. But I will TRY!

Life feels good right now :)

Ate well at uni yesterday, but when I came home DH had made one of my favourite things in the world. I tried to resist, and cooked my own dinner (mushroom risotto) and after that I tried to wait until I felt that 'satisfied full' feeling. But it never came. So I chowed down on 2 pork rolls - and went 10 points over. But that's ok, because I had 12.5 points saved up from Sunday, Monday & Tuesday. Pork rolls are really salty too, which means I need to drink heaps of water today to try to get my retained water to go away. AF also decided to make an appearance today and I'm having the worst cramps so I'm skipping uni today - 4th Thursday in a row :( At least the cramps don't make me want to eat - just to sleep all day.

Argh! I'm so disappointed in myself :( I just managed to eat 10 servings of weight watchers cookies :( Which put me 3.5 points over :( I'm going to have point-free soup for dinner and I'm going to try to work that off at some point during the next few days, hopefully tonight. It's getting dark so I have to wait for DH to come home before I can go for a walk, but I will do some calisthenics for at least 10 minutes.

Thanks sue :) I overcame the bickies and didn't let it get me down! I did the 10 minutes of calisthenics, 45 minutes of walking (moderate - enough to sweat and be out of breath) and had a completely point free dinner (stir-fry & diet jellly - thank god I had the forethought to make jelly!). I have ended up SAVING 1.5 points today :D

I'm learning....

I am SO looking forward to my Weigh In on Sunday!! DH and I are going out tomorrow night to see The Amazing Johnathan. We're having sushi for dinner and I plan to have just two sushi rolls (cutting down from my usual 4). I'm going to have a late lunch as well to make sure that I'm not tempted to overeat. We're also going to be AVOIDING alcohol.

Had another great day today. DH and I went out - went to a sushi joint for dinner and I had some miso soup, 2 baby nori rolls, 4 larger crab rolls (the ones that are about the size of a 50c piece but thin) and 5 pieces of sashimi - the ones with rice underneath. All in all it was 6 points (yes, that's right!) and I felt SOOOOO full afterwards. I was really really proud that I didn't just have 4 sushi rolls (which is 9.5 points!) like I usually do. We went to see a comedy show afterwards, and there was about 10 bars - I didn't have a drop of alcohol! I ate really well the rest of the day, and have managed to save another 3 points today.

I am really really looking forward to my weigh in on Sunday. I'm hoping that this week has really paid off and I will finally get below that annoying 120 mark. When I do, my daily points allowance goes from 26 to 25 though

Tomorrow morning I am making myself wholemeal pancakes for breakfast - YUM! I might pop some blueberries in there, and maybe a bit of cocoa powder and have wholemeal chocolate blueberry pancakes... extra YUM! But then I guess I won't be able to have different flavoured toppings... I am REALLY looking forward to pancakes! I'm having prawn stirfry for lunch with brown rice and then vegetarian spaghetti bolognaise with wholemeal spaghetti and extra light chedder cheese for dinner. I'm going grocery shopping tomorrow afternoon and I have to sort out a menu for the week (it worked REALLY well this week!)... I wonder what I should have throughout the week... anyone got any ideas?

Wonderful wonderful weigh in days - the day you dread but also worship when it's good :)

Today I weighed in at 120.6kg! That's a loss of 1.2kg since last Sunday.

SW: 121.8kg
6/9/09: 120.6kg

Only got 23.6kg and 20 weeks to go!

I'm ok with my loss, I honestly thought I would lose more though. I do have some things that I'm really proud that I did this week, such as exercising and last night I RESISTED pizza - I didn't even take a whiff of the pizza fumes. I'm also proud that although I went off track a couple of times, I got myself right back on track afterwards and didn't let it get me down.

Lets see how I go this coming week...

Have been going really well the last couple of days. I tried a new recipe tonight - Pumpkin, mushroom and sage lasange. It's 3 points per serve and I had two serves for dinner and OMG I am soooooo full! It's so so so good too :) I haven't done any exercise this week, but when I'm eating well I don't feel the need to. I've been really tired as well coz I'm studying heaps. Quitting smoking is really hard... I'm trying to cut back and am using patches and stuff but it's difficult to break the habit :(

I took a sneak peak at my weight this morning and OMG OMG OMG! I'm so excited to weigh in on Sunday for an official number!
