Keep plugging away Yellow, you will get there.

Maybe it would make more sence just to concentrate on one thing at a time, either the weight loss or the smoking. It sounds like you are going great guns in the quitting smoking stakes so stick with it and know that you are well on your way to a fitter, healthier, happier you.

Have a good one :) .

Thanks so much Sue :) Gosh you are so supportive of me!! I feel like I don't deserve it :(

So today I have decided to officially go on to maintenance, which took my points from 25 to 30!! I'm gonna track track track my intake, no matter what. I jumped on the scales this morning and was 122kg - not good at all. I don't like being back in the 120s, after it took me so long to push through the barrier. They say that the when a smoker quits, they gain on average 2.5kg simply from the decrease in metabolic rate - I've gained 2.2kg so far, and that's it - no more!!

DH suggested last night that if I'm craving sweet things, then I should buy low sugar hard lollies or lollipops - something sweet to suck on that's relatively low in points (0.5 points for a chuppa chup). Sounds like a plan to me :)

The other night I felt like going for a walk, and I went with DH and the dogs, and I managed to jog for about 5 minutes total (little bits here and there). It felt really cool - a nice free feeling :) I'm wanting to build up to jogging for 30 minutes solid... might take me quite a few months though!

I'm feeling really good without the smokes - I'm becoming a preacher about it :p I complain all the time about damn smokers and the damn smell - it's so gross!! I have no idea how DH put up with the smell!!! I just want to vomit every time I cross the path of cigarette smoke or come close to a smoker. Lol, I'm turning into one of 'those' ex-smokers ahahaha the funny thing is, I did a bit of hypnotherapy from a CD and I remember it telling me that I would find the smell of cigarettes repulsive... hrm... I wonder...

I just wanted to say well done on giving up smoking! It is so freakin hard to do so kudo's to you!

I'm a bad one for smoking when I'm out drinking, augh, I figure that will be my next health target (and cutting down on the drinking also lol), aiming to do it when I'm 90kg since I still feel like I'm in the baby steps part of losing weight.

I bet you do feel so great after kicking the nasty habit.

Hey happygirl :) Thanks for your kind words :)

I know what you mean about feeling like you're still in the baby steps section of the weight loss continuum... But I promised myself that I would do two things before I hit 21 - quit smoking, and lose weight. I can lose weight in the weeks before I hit 21, no probs - but quitting smoking is more of a thing that needs at least 3 months.

Personally, I really suggest not setting a weight for when you will quit smoking - it might lead to self sabotage so you might not get to that weight so you cant quit smoking IYKWIM. I'm reading a book right now, and it suggests that many people do this when they set a quit date that's changeable - like "I'm going to quit on my birthday" (Which birthday?), "I'm going to quit when x happens" (what if x never happens, or you make it not happen), and they mainly make that event never happen or keep changing the variables so that they never have to quit and its all to do with subconscious fear of quitting (coz its like a safety blanket for many of us). They say its better to have a specific date of a specific year and write it down, tell everyone you know and prepare for that time to make sure the transition is as smooth as possible. So maybe if you've got a goal date to hit 90kg by, you can make it like the fortnight after that date or something? Of course its completely up to you, just something to think about :)

Today I weighed in, and thankfully I only gained 300g this week, so I am now 121.5kg (hrm, a loss from yesterday though!!). I've done really well today eating wise as well, which I'm super proud of :) I'm hoping for maybe a loss this week, even though I've gone on maintenance - I'm still eating less than I have in previous weeks. I get 30 points a day now!! OMG! How am I going to eat that much??? Lol. I'll probably get to 24/25 points and wont be able to fit anymore in... which is how much I'm supposed to eat to lose weight :p

This is week is the last teaching week of uni, yay! Then next week is SWOTVAC, and then exams on the 2nd, 9th, 13th (and Britney Concert!) and 17th. Nicely spread out for me to cram :p I've got 2 major assignments due this week on Monday and Wednesday though, which is sucking heaps hardcore :( Looking forward to my 6 weeks off before summer school starts :)

Heya yellow

I definitely agree with what you are saying, if I never hit 90kg the quitting probably won't happen!

I am thinking for maybe an after new years thing (like Feb 1st) because I know with the million parties I have coming up I will definitely have 1 or 2. It's kind of like the weight loss thing, you really really want to have to do it, otherwise it doesn't work.

Since all my gym work I am keen to get super fit so I'm hoping my new lifestyle won't work with the things I do in my current lifestyle (the partying, drinking, smoking etc). I have taken the crap food from it so I'm working on making none of those things fit (the odd party and drink in moderation of course :P ).

Hi! Sorry I've been totally slack :)

Thanks Sue and HG for checking up on me :)

HG - I think it's great that you've taken on board my advice, and I wish you the best of luck for quitting smoking. Its hard, but totally worth it :) I'm going to the Britney concert in Melbourne on Friday the 13th of November :D Lol. I get constant teasing too... I don't know why...

I'm still free of smoking :) 4 weeks now! Yay! When I first started, my patches were 15mg, and at the beginning of this week I changed down to 10mg and I barely noticed. I'm using the help of a site called TheQuitCoach, which is like a site that you go to and answer a whole bunch of questions, and they give you advice on how you're doing in your quitting. They've also got a whole bunch of information sheets that help you to learn how to cope and stuff. Pretty cool.

Weight loss wise, I'm kinda just bouncing around... I'm not really focused on losing weight at the moment, just being healthy and tracking my food. I have exams starting next week, that go for 3 weeks, so that's kinda more at the forefront of my mind more than anything :) I have a goal to be at 117.7kg by the end of November though - that is my 10kg mark :) That's about 4kg or so from where I am now. It would be really nice to get down there! I have 13 weeks until my birthday (well the week before my birthday), so obviously I'm not going to get down to below 100kg - or even really near it. Hopefully below 110kg though! I think the most important thing is that I don't give up. None of my friends and family are going to stop loving me because I'm overweight, and they can all see that I'm doing something about that. There is one friend that hasn't seen me since I was about 85/90kg, so obviously she's going to think that I've put on weight, but meh. I'm still going to have at my birthday party, and on my birthday!

Hey, random question, but does anyone know what 'protective clothing' means when you're riding a motorised scooter? Does it mean leathers, or can I just wear jeans and a long sleeved shirt?

Good on you Yellow Roses & OTD for both quitting smoking. That is fantastic and one of the best things you can do for your health & your looks & your smell.
With exams coming up I reckon ensuring you have a bit of regular exercise in your schedule would be valuable for dealing with stress as well as keeping you weight in check.
I think the protective clothing means wear a helmet, gloves, enclosed shoes, long pants, long sleeved top. Of course the leathers are the best if you've got them.

I'm hoping that's what it means. Cos seriously? Fat girl + leathers + summer = enough sweat to fill a dam. Plus, where would you even buy PLUS SIZE leathers?

Hi Yellowroses :)

I just wanted to stop by and say hi. I've seen a few of your videos on youtube, and I think it's great that you're making them to try and keep yourself accountable! Your can definately notice that your face is slimming down. I know things have been a bit up and down for you lately, but keep working hard. It's fantastic that you've managed to quit smoking too, well done :) I'm sure you'll look healthy and feel great for your 21st!

Sarah, I've been going for 5 weeks now, and trust me - it's so worth it. My lungs don't feel like they're burning anymore, I can have a huge belly laugh and not end up coughing up a lung, everything smells and tastes different (and better!), and I just feel FREE! Like you said - anything that's hard to do is worth doing :)
