6 week WL&exercise challenge-all welcome, register by 11.06

A few of us have decided to start a 6 week challenge that incorporates WL and exercise. The exercise component will be a team challenge with a set target of mins to be met by the end of the 6 weeks. So far we have 5 members :

Paula
FFS
Sassy
HG83
Shay

I have found that team challenges work really well because if you don't mind letting yourself down letting the team down might be enough to keep you going.

For anyone that wishes to join please post here by Friday at the latest. If you wish to join in the WL part you will need to record your starting weight in the Google Docs spreadsheet that I will make up today or tomorrow. The link for everyone to access and edit will be posted in this thread asap.

You will need to advise here how many exercise mins per week you can commit to - make it do-able but not too easy. The whole idea is to push ourselves more than we normally would. I will then work out an average and set the team 6 week goals. Can't wait to get started!

My WL goal is to lose 5kgs in the 6 weeks and do 300mins exercise per week.

Hi,

I'd love to join!
my starting weight is: 64.3kg
im commiting myself to 300min of exercise per week
id like to loose 7kg in 6 weeks (now before you all start ;) i like to aim high so i push myself, im not going to cry a river if i dont loose that much!)
im going to put a little exercise ticker on my sig to indicate how much i have done.

Great to see so much enthusiasm! This is just what I need!
Now we have 7 members which will make it tricky but not impossible!

Nelbel - exercise mins ......... SW .............
HG83 - 250 exercise mins SW 96.3kgs
Sassy - 200 exercise mins SW 91.2kgs
Paula - 300 exercise mins SW 95.9kgs
Shay - exercise mins ......... SW ...........
FFS - exercise mins ........ SW .......
LY - 300 mins exercise SW 64.3kgs

So if you have dots next to your name please post here with your exercise mins and starting weight - if others need to change their SW's for today please feel free to post that also. I will work out the teams once everyone has indicated what exercise they plan to do - that way I can try to even up the teams. Please only commit to exercise you think you can manage - that way you won't let yourself or your team down - but challenge yourself!

Here is the spreadsheet link for updating - it has very minimal info at the moment - it will be finalised as soon as everyone lets me know their numbers. I have added a cals burnt column because I like to track my cals also - this is optional and purely for my own record - if you want a cals burnt column too just let me know.

Hope to get all your figures today so we can start out 6 weeks. I can see some great results happening!

My 6 week goals

Start weight: 111kg
Goal weight loss: 7kg

Exercise goal: 105 mins exercise a week. I know that isn't much :( I'm not used to exercise though so 15minutes a day is a personal challenge for me.

Thanks for doing this Paula, it's just the motivation i need!
When do we officially start? Is it today?

First Goal: 109 kilos (Losing 10% of my body weight)
Second Goal: 99 kilos (Getting out of triple digits)
Third goal: 85 kilos (Getting back to a weight where i felt more like ME)
Ultimate long term goal: 60 kilos (Losing half of my start weight)

HI FFS - yes start today! Hopefully everyone else will visit in here today and see we have started. I need to work out the averages for exercise mins so we have targets and teams - but in the meantime we can just record it ourselves and enter it into our team page once all is finalized.

It is what I need too! Hopefully working in teams will keep us all motivated.

My SW is 70.5kg, and my exercise goal is 200mins a week.
Had my baby girl Leah on 13/12/10!

Weight at 40 weeks: 81.5kg
SW 4 days post-baby: 74.4kg
CW: 67kg

1st mini goal: 72kg - DONE!
2nd mini goal: 70kg - DONE!
3rd mini goal: 67kg - DONE!

4th mini goal: 64kg

Hi Paula

I normally do around 200mins pw already so for me it would not be a challenge to stick to that. I would like to up my mins by 50 so Ill be doing 250mins pw. I dont really have a specific exercise programme I normally collaborate my cardio and weight exercise. 1 day of the week I do circurt which is the mixture of weight training and cardio at the same time.

Ofcos my starting weight is 91.2kg
aiming to have lost @ least 5kg by the end of this challenge which will put me at around 86.2kg anything less than that will be super... My weigh in day is on Monday so I will be bringing the formal stats on Monday.

Just a quick question do we stick to our weigh-in days or should we all have the same weigh-in day and report back with our weights weekly or will we all reveal our weights at the end of the challenge (6 weeks)?

Hi Sassy,

I am very impressed with your commitment to push yourself!! Well done! I think that is important - get out of our comfort zones. For eg - my comfort zone now = maintenance. Used to = WG so at least that is an improvement. But since I still have 20kgs to lose I need to get out of the CZ for now.

I am starting my exercise off tomorrow with an 11km walk but first am going to do the Michelle Bridges fitness test to see where I am at now - will repeat in 4 weeks time. Then on Sunday I will do an 8km hike at the Mt that is close to home. If I can do that every weekend I will have already done 180 mins before the working week starts. Then I just have to do 2 more hours by the Friday. Fridays are my rest day. I like weights training too and also my beloved treadmill with my favourite music.

Hoping to hear from Nelbel soon!!

Sorry forgot to answer your question re weigh ins - it is up to you! The main part of the challenge is the exercise and the WL should follow - the dates are Friday dates as that is my WI day but if you want to leave it blank until the Monday that's fine!!

You are so close to going under 90 - the end of this challenge will see you there easily!!! And me hopefully!

I am so glad to have found all of you who are willing to commit to this! Go teams!

I'm weighing in tomorrow morning,

My goal is to 240 minutes of exercise per week.
Weight goal, I will let you know tomorrow, my husband has my scales and I won't have them until tomorrow morning (he works away from home!) shall let you know by 9am :)
