2012 Challenge

Postby lmffph » Wed Jan 04, 2012 11:40 pm

Well the first week is almost over and no one has posted up a 2012 challenge yet so I thought I'd do it.

My challenge for 2012 is to get to somewhere between 65 and 70 kilos by the end of the year. Started my challenge at 131.5kgs on the 3rd of January. It's not going to be an easy task!!

So for the next couple of months I'm off to the gym for a cardio and weights workout at least 3 times a week, and I'm hoping to get in there at least 5 nights a week - even if I just walk for 15 minutes.

I'm also on a strict 1200 calorie diet. Surprisingly that hasn't been too bad. Using an app on my iPhone and it's eally opened my eyes to what I'm eating and where I've been going wrong.

Going to weigh-in once a week, so next weigh-in will be next Tuesday. Fingers crossed!!!!!

Anyone else up for a twenny-twelve challenge?!?!?

Hi lmffph,

I have just registered after reading your challenge. I would like to join you here.

I'm about 76kg and want to get down to 60kg by September. I'm going to New York (first ever overseas trip) and want to be fit and fantastic when I go.

Hopefully we can encourage each other. :D

Hi, I will join in too.

I managed to lose 9.5kg last year, and plan to beat that this year, want to lose 18 kgs but realistically I would be happy with 12. 12 kgs dooesn't sound a lot but i had my thyroid removed years ago and really struggle to lose the kgs. I joined the gym couple of months ago and i love it, but my challenge for this year will also be to keep up the motivation.

That's a good challenge, I like it, keep going.

Last year I lost 15kg's and then I regained it all plus an extra couple kg's. Now I am at 89kg.

My aim for 2012 is to get down to 62kg's and be in an excellent fitness range.

CW: 89kg
GW: 62kg
Mini-goal: 69kg by the end of the financial year (I haven't been below 70kg's since I was 16)

I'd like to join in too if you don't mind.

My aim is to lose 0.5 - 1kg a week if I can until I reach my ultimate goal of 70kgs. I haven't done a weigh in since before Christmas so will do a weigh in tomorrow morning so I can start properly.

I have been trying to eat as little processed food as I can, concentrating more on fresh fruit and vegetables and healthier amounts of meat (I love my meat!), along with drinking more water and milk (dietician's recommendation). I am happy with my weight loss so far as I have lost over 16kgs since I actually started eating healthier late last year.

Good luck everyone!

I'll join this too :) I want to be under 100kg by the end of the year!!

Imffph, you might want to reconsider your goal. It is a bit unrealistic. Recommended weight loss is 0.5-1kg per week. Any more than this and there is a high chance of gaining it all back (take the biggest loser stories for example.. lots of loss in a small amount of time = all gained back). Its also very heart breaking when we set a goal and don't reach it.

Thanks Whit3Tig3y

Prior to joining here I cleared my plan with my GP and the medical centre's nutritionist/dietician so I'm good to go. I have monthly check-ins with with the nutritionist to review my food diary and eating plan and also bi-monthly checks with the GP to make sure everything's going ok.

Ultimately, I'll stop when I feel good - whether that's 100, 80, or 60.

This is less of a lifestyle change and more of a lifestyle reversion for me, back to how I used to eat and exercise 6 years ago before I put all the weight on.

Can anyone help me to get my ticker counter to show in my posts? I have just created it... put the URL into my signature in user control panel but it just shows the URL and not the actual ticker.

copy and paste this into your signature

you'll need to remove all of the ** to get it to work - i.e. make sure there's no gaps. Then it'll look like this:
