Lowie's 12 Week epic challenge! ^_^

Postby Lowie57 » Mon Jun 18, 2012 8:36 pm

Hey guys!

I have put up a few posts in the introduction section, talking about my problems is one thing, doing something about it is another!
So tonight i begin my 12 week challenge! ( i picked a good day being monday.. easy to remember haha)

i thought i initially lost a little weight but i am currently weighing in at 126.6kgs, i am aiming to lose 2kgs per week,

Starting Weight - 126.6kgs

25/6/2012 GW- 124kg CW-
2/7/2012 GW- 122kg CW-
9/7/2012 GW- 120kg CW-
16/7/2012 GW- 118kg CW-
23/7/2012 GW- 116kg CW-
30/7/2012 GW- 114kg CW-
6/8/2012 GW- 112kg CW-
13/8/2012 GW- 110kg CW-
20/8/2012 GW- 108kg CW-
27/8/2012 GW- 106kg CW- (birthday is on the 26th! :D)
3/9/2012 GW- 104kg CW-
10/9/2012 GW- 102kg CW-
My big goal is to actually be at or under 100kgs by the 12 week mark

I think this plan is quite realistic in my eyes. what i need to make reality is to move my butt into gear, its going to be tough, there is going to be hurdles, but i am tougher than limbo! and Hurdles are made to be cleared. :D if i happen to miss a week on this, you guys are welcome to kick my butt! i encourage it. i need support, i need help with motivation. i am willing to do this :D

Hey guys! im back after my first week :D

So here is how my first week turned out..

Starting Weight - 126.6kgs

25/6/2012 GW- 124kg CW- 123kg :D
2/7/2012 GW- 122kg CW-
9/7/2012 GW- 120kg CW-
16/7/2012 GW- 118kg CW-
23/7/2012 GW- 116kg CW-
30/7/2012 GW- 114kg CW-
6/8/2012 GW- 112kg CW-
13/8/2012 GW- 110kg CW-
20/8/2012 GW- 108kg CW-
27/8/2012 GW- 106kg CW- (birthday is on the 26th! )
3/9/2012 GW- 104kg CW-
10/9/2012 GW- 102kg CW-

So i managed to get under my goal weight for the week! which i was super shocked, but super happy about. To be completely honest, i only started exercising since Sunday afternoon, i went for an hour long walk, and did some upper body weights and 40 crunches at night before dinner and i went for my hour long walk again tonight after work.

So 95% of this weeks weight loss is from diet alone.. which i am very happy with what i am eating at the moment. Lots of veggies and lean meats for dinner, oats for breakfast.. fruit and soups for lunch, and if i have been hungry at night i have had some fruit with half a handful of almonds. and im only feeling hungry when im leaving too long of a gap in between meals at work occasionally.

Im excited for what this week will bring, because i WILL be exercising every day. :D i managed to get myself a whopper of a blister on my foot today, it started yesterday.. i think my shoe was a bit too loose, and todays walk agro'd it more so, So tomorrow night i will be going to the pool and swimming for an hour at least :)

Great result! Keep it up!

The majority of weight loss is the diet but exercise is important too.
The more muscle you have the more calories they burn so it's advantageous to have as much muscle as possible which you get by .. exercising!

Look after the blister .. you don't need an excuse not to exercise this early on :-)

So im dreading my weight in come monday night, ive gone and thrown my back out at work yesterday, actually felt like a pop/click in my lower back.. so suffice to say im in bed today, as i can hardly even move! it hurts to even get dressed! :'(

Which brings me to my question.. is there anything i can do to keep.. "active" so to speak while my back recovers? im just going to make sure i stick within my calorie goals while i am not doing much..

Just my luck this happens as i am just starting to enjoy it all for a change >_<' haha

Mother’s day 2011 I burst a disc in my back and I was so scared of making it worse that I stopped all exercise ...20kg later my back is so stressed from the extra weight. My advice is don’t let it become an excuse; go to a doctor and a physio and find out what you can do safely then ask the physio what you can do to strengthen your back so it doesn’t happen as often. I know the pain is terrible but be strong.

So I went to the doctors yesterday, took the day off work, and as I was expecting he didn't really have an explination, nor real future proof plans, just the "I think you will be ok by Monday", anyway I got some anti-Inflamitary's, and I don't know if it was the pills or it somehow slipped back in place but a couple hours after I got home, had the pill and sat in a chair 90% of my pain was gone! So going from bed bound.. To that, I decided to go for my walk last night (it was cold and slightly raining too). It's also been a hell of a long time since I ever did anything of a Saturday morning, got up and did my walk :) so I'm back on track! Super happy with it now :)

Bloody doctors drive me insane ...take a pill and all will be good attitude... sucks even worse when they are right lol. Good on you for dealing with it straight away and getting back out there.

Congrats on the quitting smoking!
Here is a site that I used when I gave up - it can track your savings which is pretty cool to watch add up!

So, i actually weighed myself yesterday morning, and i came in at 119.6kgs, i weighed myself tonight after gym (drank quite alot of water) so over all im pretty happy with how things are going :)

Im keeping it consistent, and taking it day by day.. so progress is good!

Ive been at the gym for a week now, and i have gone every day except friday and sunday ( had social plans) but i am glad i took those days off, i think i really needed the rest, i came back the day after with loads more energy and drive! and powered through it feeling much better about what i did :) i have set my benchmark of 5km's on the cross trainer, and swimming for 1km in the pool for a single cardio session, which i think is pretty good considering my first session last sunday.. i struggled to get through 20 minutes on the cross trainer, now i am going 30 mins and im not feeling like i am going to die! also another thing i have noticed, and im not sure if it is due to quitting smoking, or my fitness getting slightly better.. or maybe both? but my recovery times after going hard on an exercise has dramatically increased! i remember being puffed out for ages after a work out or mid workout, but now.. 1-2 minutes of rest. and my breathing is back to almost normal! it feels great! :D

Hiya guys!!!

It's been ages since I've been on here! Life's been a bit hectic.. Had to move house twice in the last 2-3 weeks! >_< and I have had no Internet..

But that's the crappy news, good news is I have been sticking to my eating/exercise goals! And I am currently weighing in at 114kg :D pretty stoked to have cracked the 10kg loss mark..

I'm not really seeing much in the way of results physically as much I'd like, my face is looking thinner! And my legs have gotten alot thinner, I'm fitting into some old clothes again, my arms are slowly getting a little more definition, but I can't really see any difference with my stomach/chest, I know it's gotten leaner because I can wear a few shirts now that didn't fit me previously, but it still looks the same.. I havnt been doing too much in the way of core exercises though, perhaps I should crank that up a notch!

I never thought I'd say it, but I am loving the gym now! It makes me feel so much better after a hard work out, and when I miss a day at the gym (even my rest days) I find myself thinking of it and what I'm going to do next.. This summer is going to be awesome I reckon :D

Sounds like you are going really well congrats :)

I have just reached the 10kg mark and can't notice it so have decided to take pics every 5-10kgs so I can look at them to decide what changes are happening, have about 8kgs until next pic so will see how it works then :P

Again Well Done!!! and congrats :D

Thanks justme :) congratulations to you on your weight loss so far also!! How good is that feeling of cracking that 10kg mark?! I loved the feeling :D

Got my measurements done at the gym again today, I thought it was 2 months since my last one, but it's actually only been 1 month, so.. In 1 month I have lost 6.4kg,
Lost 5cm from chest, 8.5cm from waist, 3.5cm from hips, 1cm from thighs and gained 1.5cm on my arms.. Not bad for 1 month of work :) trainer was pretty Impressed

Lol thank you pretty cool cracking to 10 kg that's for sure

That is really interesting seeing all your measurements, think once I get to the exercise section of this journey will have to do the same thing - I have tried doing them at home, however I think short of tatooing markers on I am never going to measure the same spot twice except for around the waist

Big congrats on your results, your making me feel motivated

Thanks! :D

I must admit, eating healthy made me feel a little better.. Mostly because there is no guilt, but it's the exercise that makes me feel really good :) I love getting home from the gym, feeling exhausted, feeling like my muscles are going to explode, sometimes waking up in the morning and feeling the soreness from the workout.. Yeah it's pain, but it's such a satisfying pain.. Is that weird? Haha

I had someone else take my measurements, but i did take note of where he measures, for your waist, have the tape over your belly button, for chest, have the tape go over the nipples, for hips, have the tape sit just above your butt crack lol, thighs - relax your arms down by your sides, where your fingers end on your thigh is where you measure, and arms is dead centre of your bicep.

Hopefully that helps your a bit :)

I'm excited to crack the 15kg mark now :D
