JP's confessional 2014

Postby JP1 » Tue Feb 04, 2014 3:44 pm

3 weeks with no cheats, couple of larger portions of food in second week which I nipped in the bud and have put in on the exercise front throughout..

But..

Yesterday I was invited out for work lunch, 300g rib eye steak *bloody nice it was too* went for the healthy option with it of mash and veggies, leaving most of the mash.. All washed down with 2 pints of XXXX Gold..

Made sure I did extra walking last night to make sure and still came in a couple of 100g's lower so alls well that ends well.. just noting it! 8)

Where do I start? Weekend away in Sydney - generally over indulged but worst confessions are : beers (many!), couple of cocktails, cheese and biscuits on the plane down there, fish and chips lunch, garlic bread with dinner.. two *one scoop* ice creams, a small bag of ten sweets (pear drops) from the UK sweet shop at Darling Harbour - proceeded to eat about 7 of them, gave 3 away!

On the plus side, climbed the bridge, did plenty of walking, ate sensibly at most meals.. hopefully they'll be some beer evaporation after the couple of kilos l put on this week.

Disappointed at the sweets to be honest, shouldn't have even gone in the shop - it just happened!

Family BBQ on Sunday.. Had breakfast but then a combined lunch/dinner, 2 steaks and 2 hamburgers, no doubt too much bread with them but that was all.. Also 4/5 beers throughout the day which I didn't think was too bad.. Would have probably been negated had I gone for my 90/120 min walk last night but was slack and didn't go on that either.. Swam during the day and some heavy gardening on Saturday compensated so all in all it could have been a lot worse, even though think it showed on my numbers this morning..

No other cheats during the last week

It is all about OWNING it.

Do the crime - do the time. If you do go overboard you owe it to yourself to work that bit harder to negate it (or even better work harder still...as punishment not to overdo it next time!).

I love your honesty. When we are honest with...we are dealing with reality and not fooling ourselves. :D

Yup got to be honest with yourself don't you? Been pretty proud of myself the last few weeks, no cheats whatsoever really, went to Byron on Sunday, ate a larger portion than I should have and had couple of beers with it but compensated for larger portion with eating less for tea and making sure I put in extra exercise wise that night.. The couple of beers are collateral damage, have said from beginning I am not giving up all life's luxuries!

There are the key elements right there. Being totally honest with yourself while you are working at building a healthy lifestyle that you can live with. You pick your pleasures but you knowing take the responsibility of dealing successfully with your choices.

A few beers are factored into my regime but unfortunately no bacon sarnies..

It's only now and then I get the craving but it's always there, don't think there'd ever be a time I would say, Nah not interested in one of them..

Agree with the total honesty point Km, pointless to be any other way and stay on the forum.. I use this medium as a reference point for my own accountability, if I'm not honest on here I might as well be off in cloud cuckoo land by myself..

That is the most useful way to use this Forum. Here we can be honest and accountable because we all row in the same boat and understand as others don't what it is all about.

Also if you are helping others...you have got to live the life you advocate or it makes you a hypocrite - and no one wants to be that.

3 Satay sticks instead of 1 I'd promised myself for starter on Sat evening meal.. probably nibbled too much on olives and crackers and stuff but I thought I'd been pretty good really!

Oh yaeh and the bacon sarnie on Sun morning, mind you l then made up for it by altering my breakfast/lunch menu to fit so not too bad again.. just mentioning it ;)

I think that the bacon is alright ( so long as it isn't too fatty)...just lose the bread.

But you are on the right track. If you want it - you can have it so long as you take responsibility for it. Altering your breakfast/lunch menu is just the right ticket. :D 8)

Melbourne for the week end.. Let's see, a few slices of garlic bread, an ice cream, some cheese and biscuits on the flight down, more beers than I budgeted for, 1/2 a bottle of red wine, more chips with meals than I should have.. Think that's about it, could have been a lot worse, there were Krispy Creme Doughnut shops everywhere!
