But it was for the Buffalo...

Postby Butterfly_Dawn » Fri Jan 19, 2007 7:28 pm

Ok, so here's the deal. My work has decided to buy 2 buffalo for the oxfam buffalo bank for a third world country ( yes I know it's weird). part of this involved filling the kitchen with chocolates to raise money  . of course I have been very bad and had far too many this week. then there was morning tea and the BBQ at my neighbours this week. Oh I have been bad bad bad.

I just can't seem to contain myself!

By baring my choclatified soul I hope to shame myself into not doing it again dammit!!!!

DONT DO IT AGAIN OR DOLLY WILL GET HER BOOT OUT! lol

fundraising chocolates are sooo tempting arent they! its also hard if you cant sell any more to your family because they have already brought about a ton off you! put them in the cupboard so you cant see them tegan!

p.s. well done to your work for such a worthy cause. (my brother has a world vision child and he brought him a goat one year for xmas)

Crikey! A whole goat?

I'm beginning to think fundraiser chocolates are the bain of society. Take the choccy and give it to someone else. That way you have given your donation and someone else gets fat! You win both ways. There's a whole line of willing participants at our work for free food. Or you could find a way to make yourself dislike them.

Example: we have a biscuit barrel at work and one of the chaps who sits near me calls them urine biscuits. This is because he swears black and blue he has seen blokes go to the toilet, not wash their hands, then go and get one of these biscuits. And not just fishing one out of the top either....nooo.... they dig around for their favourites! Think about it!

Fundraising choccies are evil

I have a few stuck on my butt that I have to work off (should have just stickytaped them on instead of eating them cause removing them is soooo much easier that way).

Perhaps, suggest at work, that they do some other sort of fundraising - there are things like sock drives, perfume drives etc out there that are not damaging to diets at all :D

Whenever I get choccies home from the school, I get Nathan to sell them asap so I eat less of them.................. the problem in the past has been that his biggest buyer was me
Every day I am getting thinner and thinner.....

Oh those damned charity chocolates...I can so empathise with your predicament there Butterfly_Dawn...I am walking off many, many. many giant caramello bears :x

I do understand the need for people to raise money but it has gotten ridiculous...in my office we would not go a single day without something...bears, frogs, slices, lamingtons....and some people get upset if you don't participate "it's for the kids/poor people/environment" they whine.

Plus we have a several permanent boxes of snacks that get replenished each week. And they're all placed right next to the fridge where I have to store my yoghurt and other healthy stuff...I have to walk right past them.
Cheers, Mary

If I could find a ticker for measurements it would say I'm on the way from a waist measurement of 134cm to one of 70cm (currently at 129cm)

Yeah we are the same Mary, no one brings them around though they just sit permanently in the kitchen. I can forgo them now and if I really want to give to that charity then I buy one and give it to someone else.

We got rid of those fundraising chocolates from our office last Thursday! Moved them upstairs for the nursing staff to get chubby on lol

How cool is this:
Once my co-workers found out i was on a diet, we all launched ourselves into this crazy diet mode thing......5 of us are now partaking in "Admin's Biggest Loser" lol.
We all weighed ourselves on the scales the Specialist doctors use , did up a spreadsheet and now have to all weigh ourselves on it every thursday morning.

Sara whos the youngest in the office endeavoured to drink two litres of water on friday.........her 10 min toilet dashes were a crack up!!!!!

Trying to get the beergutted CEO to join us too !

That sounds awesome, Jane!! It must be great to have weight loss buddies at work! :) :) Good luck - I'm sure you'll take out the grand prize!!!

I don't miss working in admin because of those damned fundraising choccies!! They were everywhere!!! They used to make me crave chocolate so bad but I never ever bought any cos I knew if I did, I wouldn't just have a bit, or half a bar - I'd scoff the lot! I just made sure I had no change in my wallet whatsoever!!

yeah well I haven't been eating the chocolates, but we have had 3 (count em, 3) morning teas in the last fortnight with bikkies and cheese and cake etc. Just can't win.

On the good side, our room has started a new fundraising source - a swear jar (our work is just a little on the profane side due to high stress, and the 'clientelle' we deal with) 20c per naught word. We've raised $9 something by now. So I have a means of contributing without adding calories.

Now if I can just control myself at morning tea.....

If I started a swear jar at work I would be a rich woman in no time at all.

Working in a call centre, everytime somebody gets hung up on, deals with an idiot or something just goes wrong, a swearword emits from our lips - it is the only way to keep the stress down lol
