not enough

Postby ash » Tue Nov 22, 2005 2:03 pm

my confession is that when i start a diet i eat all the time - every 2-3 hours- but then at the end of the day when i total up all my calories it only comes up to 8 or 900 for the day.. and then i feel like its terrible to do things like eat 1 whole apple at a time . or eat foods that i dont know exactly how many calories are in. then about a week later i start to feel really hungry and overeat for 2 days! its like this uncontrollable urge that i have... this time i think im going to up my calories to maybe 11 or 1200 and i wont feel so hungry.

You might find this useful Ash

Hi Ash,

welcome on board.

You might find this "energy needs calculator" useful to estimate how many calories you need to maintain your current weight:

http://www.weightloss.com.au/Tools/BMRCalc.htm

By eating a little less than the estimate, you should lose weight safely and it may help you avoid the rollercoaster ride you're on at the moment.

In the Tools section of this site there's also a food diary that you might find useful.

Hope this helps, good luck and again, welcome aboard.

I don't count calories at all, I think it would end up consuming me. Its bad enough being addicted to the scales! I think its not the calories that hurt us but the fat.
