A weak moment

Postby Dolly » Fri Jan 13, 2006 12:59 am

Family kept leaving chocolate bars, choc peanuts, ice-cream trumpets, and an iced carrot cake out.
I just know they are going to leave that stuff in the house for me to dwell on whilst they're at work.

I weakened and had an ice-cream and a handful of choc coated peanuts

heaven help me over the next few days until that stuff is gone.
And before you ask me to speak with them, they will not hide or remove them because they think why should they suffer just because my diet is going on forever.

Bugger. :(
Can you make yourself a special, low fat, low sugar treat so that you don't feel left out? The bloke got me to make him a banana cake last night - iced with that cream cheese icing and full of sugar and butter. I knew I'd want some if I didn't have anything to treat myself to, so i made some healthy wholmeal, low sugar carrot muffins (200cal per muffin 2g fat) which is at least better than giving in to the evil banana cake.

Try just putting them away somewhere you can't see them -out of sight out of mind (at least that's the saying  ) And be strong!!!!!!!! we're thinking of you.

Thanks Tegan, I guess we all have similar battles.
I must be feeling extra weak because of the low estrogen just before my cycle. I already have the pre menstral headache happening.

I'll go now and make myself a coffee with a teaspoon of sugar in it, to take away the strong sweet craving, then I'll bag some of that stuff and stick it in one of my sons rooms (like you said out of sight is out of mind)

Thanks so much for your words of wisdom, they came at just the right time.

No worries.
Gee it must suck having the family sabotaging you. I'm personally very low on the tact front so my approach would be to say

"hey you still get to have them, you just have to keep them out of my way. How would it be if from now on I put anything I find in the bin? I bet that locked cupboard would look pretty attractive then. The longer you keep leaving stuff out to sabotage my efforts, the longer this diet is going to go on."

But then I'm a pretty confrontational person who stands up for my interests VERY firmly (please note it doesn't always work out well  )

Good luck with it though. Hugs.
