Hey guys, thought I should give you an update :)

So far this week I have been sticking to eating oats for breakfast, however I am still drinking tea, but not as much. I had the turkey and cranberry sandwich yesterday, also ate some chips because hubby and I were watching a movie.

Today I'm starting on my Optislim eating plan, where I eat oats for breakfast, and a shake for lunch and dinner.

I wake up fairly late, so I ate breakfast about an hour ago, and will be having my lunch soon.

I've got the flu at the moment and feeling pretty horrible, but I'm so determined to lose this weight. I keep imagining how great I'm going to look, and how fantastic I'm going to feel. I have eight weeks until my family come to Melbourne to see me, and when they get here I want to have lost a bit of weight and look really good :)

I get really frustrated with my mum. Every time I call her, she asks me something like "I weigh 72kg, how much do you weigh?", I tell her and she's like "Oh dear. That's bad." EVERY SINGLE TIME!! Like what the?? Why does she have to ask that, like I'm gonna lose 50kgs in a week? (gosh I wish) Last time I saw my brother he told me that I had 'beefed up', so I'm really anxious about seeing my family. I know that no matter how much weight I've lost they're gonna make me feel horrible and fat, especially because they've requested to go to an all you can eat place at the censored when they're here.

Bah. Wish me luck for today, I'm hoping to stick to the shakes :)

Your family sounds pretty toxic towards you. Is there any way you can limit contact with them? It can't be good for your self-esteem to have to listen to that [email protected] all the time.

Sorry to hear you have the flu. Drink lots of broth based soups. Not only will it be good in keeping your fluid up but they're quite low in calories, they fill you up and they make you feel better when you're ill!

Hope you get better soon and that your family starts treating you better. *Hugs*

Thanks Ali,

Yeah, they're pretty toxic, hubby thinks the same and wants me to limit my contact with them and seeing as they never call me it's pretty easy :)

Ugh... I feel kinda gross atm.

This is what I ate today:

1 x serving of oats
1 x banana
2 x cups of white tea (skim lactose free milk with 1 teaspoon of sugar)
2 x glasses of pineapple juice
1 x optislim shake
1 x cup of potato and leek soup
24 x rice cakes
8 x glasses of water
1 x glass of white wine
No exercise.

It's kinda good, except I have no idea if 24 rice cakes instead of an optislim shake is very good... I kinda grazed all day and had the potato and leek soup because I was starving, and I just ate the rice cakes mindlessly while watching penn and teller so I decided not to have the optislim shake... I have no idea how many calories that was, but I still feel that it's a vast improvement from my regular every day diet and considering that this is what hubby ate today:

1 x large can of baked beans
4 x toast
2 x slices of cheese
6 x large glasses of red cordial
4 x large pieces of pizza
1 x large coffee milkshake
2 x glasses of white wine

Yep... so looking at what he ate compared to what I ate I feel mighty good right now :p

So how'd I do for my first day?

I think you've done really well! If you're going to eat mindlessly it's better to do it with rice cakes than Tim Tams. My only advice would be that you might want to address eating on auto-pilot as a potential hazard in your weight loss journey because next time the snack might not be so diet friendly. I used to eat without thinking all the time. The best advice I've found is from the Paul McKenna CD & book 'I can make you thin'. He advises you to really, really savour your food. A lot of weight loss programs advise you to chew your food twenty times, but he tells you to concentrate purely on what is in your mouth and enjoy it to its fullest. Not only does it make you eat slower by default, it causes you to think about what you put in your mouth and your enjoyment of what you eat rises exponentially.

Everything you ate was amazingly good. Very, very healthy! Keep this up and you're going to be feeling brilliantly by the end of the week. Good on you!

Hi,

Welcome to the forum - I'm a bit slow on my welcomes lately -
Sounds like your off to a great start and i know that was just your first days food so we can't really look into it too much but i did see a lack of vegetables in there. (i love my vegies and tell everyone to eat them) but you are off to a good start. Have you worked out an exersice plan? A bit of walking each day would be enough for now. And like EWQ said if you think mindless eating will be a problem tackle it straight away.
Thats not fair that your family makes those comments each time you see them, have you told them how it makes you feel? My fiances sister everytme she sees me she makes a comment like i think you should stick to long skirts or you have a meaty bum, i've started ignoring her there is no point letting it et at you (although she has no reason to say it she is 14 and weighs 90kg)
I'm sure you will make it to your goal by May next year if you stick to it, any time you need a kick up the bum to keep going i'm sure people will do it for you
Good luck and look forward to reading your progress.

Hiya!!

Thanks EWQ (heheeh I love your name btw) on the advice :) I really love rice cakes for some reason :s

Tarz, thanks for your advice :) I don't eat that many traditional veges (I can't eat carrot, peas, beans, corn, nuts, seeds, skins of fruits and veges - basically anything with fibre that would 'keep me regular' makes me incredibly sick because I have IBS). I do however eat LOTS of tomato, olives, lettuce, capsicum etc, but seeing as I'm on mostly a shake diet I don't eat much of them anyway.

I've been kinda bad today :( This is what I've eaten:

1 x serve of oats
2 x toast with vegemite
4 x slices of cheese
2 x medium potatos
1 x avocado
1 x cup of natural yoghurt
1 x cup of salsa
100g of pork cooked in light spray oil
1/6 of an onion
3 x glasses of pineapple juice
5 x glasses of water

20 mins of moderate walking (worked up a definite sweat!)

I kinda figured that today is Sunday, day of rest, I should give myself a break :) I made myself nacho potatos with pork at about 2.30pm for lunch, and I haven't felt hungry since, but if I do get hungry I'm just going to have an optislim shake. Tomorrow I am definitely going to substitute lunch AND dinner for optislim shakes!!

My flu is still hovering over me, I've got a really bad phlegmy cough which is so annoying because I got about 4 hours sleep last night coz I kept waking up every time I coughed and so did hubby but I got fed up about 6.30 this morning and got out of bed whereas hubby stayed in bed until 10am (he also went to sleep an hour before me), THEN has the nerve to complain he's tired. Umm... yeah... *slap* lol :) ANYWAY, my point is - I am feeling surprisingly good today even with all of this stuff, I think the little walk this morning energised me :D

I think trying to diet while your crook is doubley difficult! Things will probably get easier as you get healthier!

I sort of know what you're going through with family (except mine are really supportive and nice to me! )

I last saw my Mum and Dad in Feb 08 but haven't seen any of the rest of my family / Friends since September 2007 :!: :!: :!:

I'm going back to the UK in 2 months time! Yipeee So excited!!

Last time everyone saw me I was nearly at my fatest so I'm hoping people will go WOW! you look great!

We'll see! My nan is the one who says Don't you think you should loose some weight?! My mum and dad have both been big and lost the weight (when I originally did in 2005) they are both trying to do it again now in time for my wedding!

Yeah moomoo, I also can't wait until I see my family again so that they can see that I'm at least trying to lose weight :) I'm having my wedding reception (we eloped) when they come down, and we're showing the video of our wedding and I'm hoping that people will see how big I was in the video and then when they see me for the first time they're gonna go "Omg, she's lost so much weight!" - hehe I'd totally love that!!

So today was a bit odd... I feel like I've eaten too much, but I don't think I have. This is was my day:

1 x serving of oats
1 x banana
2 x pieces of white toast
Thinly spread light cheese spread
1 x tomato
1 x optislim shake
1 x bowl of chicken soup (chicken broth, broccoli, small amount of potato, 2 small chicken drumsticks)
3 x souvlaki bread
1 x can of tuna
3/4 of an onion
2 tablespoons of light mayonnaise
3/4 of an avocado
1 x slice of cheese
2 x glasses of pineapple juice
3 x cups of white tea

hrm, looking at that list it does look like I've eaten a lot. The oats and toast was for breakfast, the shake for lunch, soup for afternoon tea, and then I had tuna on souvlaki bread for dinner - see when I say it like that it doesn't seem like a lot :?

Oh I also did 25 minutes of walking - I pushed my limits and walked really fast for a longer amount of time :)
