Lush Gal's Progress ....

Postby Lush Gal » Wed Jun 18, 2008 1:56 pm

Well, after around 3 years of yo-yoing, and now at my heaviest weight to date, I am making a commitment to change my life.

I'm going to exercise, eat better (not diet!) and hopefully watch the kilos fade away.

I have taken up walking 4 days per week with a friend. We do 35-60 minutes depending on the route. The short walks are very intense hilly ones that really get the heart rate up, whereas the longer ones see the muscles getting a nice work out. I am still a gym member and am going to make the effort to go at least one day per week (aiming for 2 to 3).

I have been choosing better food 80% of the time (wholegrain toast no butter, turkey salad rolls, museli, lots of water, salads, vegies and a bit of fruit). I still intend to eat out and treat myself the other 20% of the time (with wine, the occassional biscuit, a bit of take away or a nice meal out).

I have come to the conclusion that diets do not work for me .... I've tried it all and always yo-yo. I need a way of life that is sustainable. I am hoping to be at goal before Christmas, I hope that is realistic!

Thanks for reading ....

Thanks for the support guys! It means a lot!

I am currently 77.5kg (and only 154cm!!) and am hoping to get down to somehwhere under 60kg. I have been 48-50kg before and it's a very hard weight for me to maintain, whereas 57ish was easy to hold onto and I felt great (not deprived or obsessed!).

Hi Lush Gal,

You have a great plan set up for yourself. It is best to look at it as a way of life instead of a diet because if you go on a diet lose all the weight then go back to the way you were living before you will put it back on. Good luck and i hope you do reach goal by christmas (i'm sure you will  )

Well, yesterday I reaaaaaaaaallly wanted a hamburger and chips for lunch as I was in the office solo ... instead I had a Turkey salad roll with avocado and seeded mustard on wholemeal no butter. And instead of a heap of biccies for afternoon tea, I had a cup of chicken and vegie soup and ONE biscuit.

Feeling really good about it. :)

I must say I was really proud of myself! And today I had a bowl of museli for breakie, and was craving morning tea, but have resisted and just had a tea w/ skim. Will hold out for lunch!

Ok, so I officially weighed in last Friday week (27th June 08) at 77.5kg. My friend and I resolved to get serious about our goals - no more junk food / excessive booze and to walk most days.

Well I weighed in Friday 4th July ...... 76.4kg! That's 1.1kg lost!!! :D

Feeling good and after a slightly indulgent weekend, am back to it this morning!

Thanks for all the support guys!

Well yesterday, at work we ended up eating out for lunch and dinner ....

Instead of a snitzel etc, I had a steak,. salad and mash weith sauce on the side for lunch, and a yummy vegie risotto for dinner .... I also left some food on plate once I was full! Totally new concept to me!!!!

Am feeling very positive ...

Oh, also there was a great article on the Sydney Morning Herald online yesterday about overeating .... http://blogs.smh.com.au/lifestyle/chewo ... g_and.html

One of the commenters on the blog mentioned hypnotherapy as a big help for them with their compulsive eating and weightloss. I think I might even make some enquiries regarding this as a part of my journey to goal ....

they're the choices that make all the difference - leaving food once you're full & choosing healthier options. sounds like you're going really well! :)

that article was interesting, thank you for sharing it :)
