Simon's progress

Postby I'm Simon » Tue Oct 21, 2008 4:12 pm

Back in 06' I lost 27kgs through diet and exercise...once I achieved my goal weight (90kg's) I really slacked off and thought the job was done, over the last 2years I have steadily packed on 15kg's and was spurred into action when I saw a recent pic of myself. I weighed myself and realised that I had ballooned to 105kgs . I kick started by diet by using optifast for a couple of weeks last time and it really worked for me, so I have decided to do the same thing again this time.

Anyhoo, yesterday I had optifast for breaky, a small can of 98% fat free tuna and some low fat crackers for lunch and a salad for dinner (I love salad's), I had a small Jim Beam and diet coke in the evening. I managed to get in an hour walk with the dog last night too....so far so good for day 1.

Today ...Optifast for breaky, small can of tuna and crackers for lunch, am planning on optifast for dinner. Went for a 45 minute walk at lunchtime and will take the dog for another hour tonight when I get home. I have managed to drink about 2-3 litres of water each day. Day 2 is looking ok as well.

I know that if I can get through week 1, I will be ok. So why am I writing this?, I guess I am kinda talking to myself as much as anything, coaching and willing myself...I know I can do it.

I pretty much followed the plan yesterday, stuck with the optislim for dinner and then took the dog for a walk for around an hour. I went to my mates place last night (as I do every Tuesday night), as soon as I got there he pulled 2 beers out of the fridge, he looked like this  when I told him that I was off the beers (you would look like that too if you knew me :D ). I had 2 small scotch and diet cokes (that is a real achievement for me).

So...today,

Breaky: Optifast
Lunch: Small can of tuna and crackers (98% fat free)
Dinner: I am planning on optislim

I didn't manage to get out for a walk at lunchtime today (busy), but will get the dog out for another hour tonight. Will attempt no alcohol tonight.

Hey Simon!

Congrats on starting to change your life around :)

I can't believe you're so determined with the optislim/optifast shakes - I have gotten through 3 days straight at the most because I just feel so weak on them, but they do really work. I mix up my routine with them though, and I've actually started having protein bars for breakfast which are extremely filling - I can barely get through a full one! I also have frozen meals for dinner (like weight watchers or lean cuisine or something) sometimes, just to get away from the shakes - they taste horrible after a few days!! :p

Keep us posted and good luck for tomorrow!

Hi Roses,

Thanks for the message, I have stuck to the plan again tonight, Optislim and an hour dog walk, I can already feel the difference !

I was a little foggy headed last night from the shakes, but tonight I feel great, I am really determined to do this.

That's not good about the fogginess - you know that you can eat non-starchy veges on the plan right? Things like broccoli and zucchini. I've discovered those Birds-eye create a meal things, which you just throw in a pan with a bit of water, with the sauce and it tastes pretty good with very little calories (About 110 calories per 200g or something) - but after being on optislim for a few days, 200g is heaps enough to fill you up!

You'll have lost that weight in a month I bet ;)

My "official" weigh in day should be Tuesday, but I couldn't help but snaeak a peek at the scales this morning.....

101.4kgs

That means that in 5 days I have lost 3.6kgs, ok, I know that it will be mainly fluid but I will take it :D

So far I have been feeling really good, I felt a bit "foggy headed" on Wednesday but I am sure that it is caffiene withdrawal as much as the optislim that I am currently on, oh well, keep going!

sometimes I dont get the scales, I was 100.4 on Monday morning and then 101 even this morning, I had a really good day yesterday, optislim for brekky, 90g of low fat tuna and 4 crackers for lunch and optislim for dinner. I went for a brisk 40 minute walk yesterday lunchtime and then to the dog for an hour and a quarter walk last night....so how the hell did I gain half a kilo

I guess it is my own fault for standing on the scales every day.

Today - optislim for brekky, tuna & crackers for lunch, another 40 minute walk at lunchtime and it will be optislim for dinner and a long dog walk tonight...hopefully I will start seeing some results.

Don't let sudden weight gains get in your way. We all seem to have them and I'm not really worried about them anymore. Just a little bit of gain can be lost pretty easily.

Optislim is designed for fast weight loss. It's a VLCD (and technically he shouldn't be having the tuna and crackers for lunch - he should be having an optislim shake), and gives you just enough for your body to survive and then encourages your body to use up the fat stores. It also supplies you with the RDI of vitamins and minerals.

Simon - it could be a bit of muscle gain, or just extra water stored up, or a giant bowel movement.

Weight fluctuates slightly from day to day for the reasons that Yellowroses just gave so I wouldn't worry about it, Simon. While it's difficult to do it might be best to restrict yourself to a once per week weigh-in. That way the daily fluctuations will not show up so much.
