Miss Jo's Progress!

Postby Miss Jo » Thu Jun 25, 2009 5:57 pm

Hi guys,
I have a few other threads happening - but after careful consideration, I decided to change my goal for now and want to update my progress more regularly.

I am aiming for 64kgs (with 5.4kgs to go!!) to start with... eventually I want to get back down to 55 (but baby steps)

Each day (except weekends, my laptop died, but will post what i can back on Monday) I will post my exercises and what I've been eating! This way I am accountable for everything.

So today I weighed in this morning at 69.4kg...

Food:
Breakfast: 2 slices of multigrain toast + light peanut butter
Lunch: Ham, pesto and small bit of goats cheese focaccia
Snack: Small fish cakey thing
Dinner: Rice + Mince pork + steamed veg and oyster sauce

Exercise:
1 hour of taekwondo

Calorie intake: 1443
Calories burnt: 751

According to CK I should be having 1320 calories per day! Anyway I hope you guys can help kick my tush into action and teach me a bit more about foods!

Miss Jo

Hi Miss Jo,
Sounds like a good start. My only suggestion food wise would be to reduce the proportion of carbs and increase the vegies perhaps. There's a fair proportion of carbs at each meal (though I don't know how much rice you're having a dinner), though it's not overly excessive either. Apparently you should aim for 1/2 your meal to be 1/2 veg 1/4 protein and 1/4 carb. Or so I read  Reducing the carbs will also help reduce your calorie count.

Keep up the exercise, sounds like you'll love going back to pump (be prepared for a bit of pain though - changing your exercise always comes at a price as I am rediscovering  )
35kg lost. (November 2005 - October 2006)
15kg gained again (as at October 2010).
Back to the drawing board - Let's do this thing!

Yes, sometimes it can feel like a struggle to eat all of your calories. If you are struggling to get their adding some calorie-dense, healthy foods can help, e.g. nuts, avocado, olive oil...

On the days where you are burning 700 calories plus through exercise, you really should try to eat back at least some of those exercise calories. Calorie King makes it calculations based on the assumption that you will eat your exercise calories back.

Have a great, smoke-free day! :D

So i don't want to eat...crap basically. :D

Nuts, dried fruit, avocado...a protein bar probably wouldn't hurt seeing as you will just have finished exercising. Even some cheese (good for protein) or a lovely rich yoghourt, e.g. Tamar Valley, good for calcium and you feel like you are having a nice treat!

Ooh my colleague loves Tamar Valley! I'll probably grab the protein bar, they usually sell them at the gyms! makes it nice and easy! :D

I just realised how much weight you have lost

How did you do it? How long has it taken you?

Calorie King! It changed my life, it makes me feel in control of my weight and I never feel deprived! Love, love, love it!

A lost about 5-6kg before I started Calorie King (mid-January last year), that was mainly from moving around after being immobile with a broken ankle, and the rest is thanks to CK and exercise. Last year I wasn't able to exercise for about three months due to a bad back, but still managed to lose weight, though more slowly, by sticking to CK.

oh - I use calorie king to monitor my calories, but that's about it.

I saw in another post you mentioned meal plans? How can this be done?

also - i just realised most % of my calories come from carbs :?

When you take or re-take your profile, there should be an option for the meal plan. :D

Most of your calories are supposed to come from carbs, so don't stress. There is far too much emphasis on restricting carb intake, it has never affected my losses. Though I now try to keep my carbs somewhere between 40% - 60% purely so I have a balanced diet and am getting adequate nutrients.
