Hello,
I've been on this road before where I lost around 35 kilos. I learnt alot last time (thankyou AJ Rochester) and thank goodness alot of my change of lifestyle / knowledge has stuck with me so I'm hoping that it won't be too hard to maintain a better eating/exercise regime.

Last time: started at over 100kg to 71kg - finished 3yrs go (Very very proud of what I achieved)
This time: 89.1 and intend getting to 75kg. First goal is >80kg.

I'm counting calories - trying to stay around 1500 per day. (I hate being hungry - so won't intentionally go less than this!!!!)
I'm doing between 30min to 1hr of exercise per day. (I want this, I NEED this outlet!)

I really really need someone out there in cyber space to know what I'm doing and give me a few words of support. This would mean a great deal to me. I need accountability!
Me? Teacher, mother of one gorgeous girl, work 24/7. Don't have friends or family as recently moved here.
Plus, I'm looking forward to encouraging others too.

Me again,
You know what really gets up my nose? How the 'guides' say I should be from 58 to 63 kilos. (I'm 169cm) When I was 71kg, I was wearing size 10 clothes. I just think that the range should be wider, because at 71 kg, there just wasn't another 10ish kilos to lose!

And another thing that annoys me, is in my calorieking calorie book, they don't have suggested calorie intake levels for people over 75 kilos (I'm doing this blindly, cos I can't be bothered to check my facts.) Anyway, its something like that!
got it off my chest!

Welcome Pobox! :D

Well done on achieving your weight loss goal last time around. I know what you mean about the CK guidelines (or any weightloss guidelines for that matter) as I'm only 158cm & my range is usually from 48kgs-62kgs. I have been 52kgs once upon a time & let me tell you, I looked like a greyhound! I was skin & bone!
My goal range is around 55-57kgs as I looked healthy & I fit into size 10 clothes back then (i.e. before I had kids!) So I'm aiming for that.

Good luck with your goals & you'll find heaps of support & inspiration here. :D

Hi!
Thanks for the welcome! I'd love to see your diary and your progress, but so far, I just can't figure it out on here.
I can't believe that in only 5 days of this re-journey, how good I feel for cutting out the lollies and carbs and doing excercise. I have my energy back! A couple of weeks ago, I felt so bloated and lethargic.

I've put myself in a yoga class, so I'm very excited about that! I get to take my little girl (aged 7) but she must shhhh for 1.5 hours. (here's hoping!)

Tomorrow night, I'm starting tennis lessons... yay! it suits me because I just don't like gyms much, but in a few kilos I might have to look in that direction for some upper body work.
Thanks again for the welcome!

I want ME time!

Postby pobox867 » Wed Aug 19, 2009 9:16 pm

Dear Me,
I feel like the worst person in the world right now. I want to play tennis on a Wednesday night from 7 till anywhere up to 10pm. What do I do with my daughter? (age 7) Well, its not fair on her to hang around a cold tennis court way past her bedtime. And you know, I feel resentful. How horrible am I? I called my boyfriend (who lives 35min away - of 3 yr relationship) and told him of my dilema. He didn't offer to come over on a Wed night and I suppose I shouldn't expect him to. I can't afford a baby sitter. So yeah, I can't do it. And I feel so rightous! like my child is stopping me from doing what I want. See? I've spelled it out. I'm a selfish cow. Sometimes, its so hard being a single mother....Just to have 1 hour on my own to go for a walk - without the constant chattering. Again, now that I've typed that, I feel rotten.
Anyway, that's all.

Try the CK website, it is much more informative than the little book! It will also give you more than a 5kg healthy weight range.

I hope that doesn't mean you are disappointed with a 1.2kg loss! .5kg - 1kg a week is healthy weight loss.

my mental journey

Postby pobox867 » Sat Aug 22, 2009 11:56 am

Me again,
Hi Czarina, no I'm really happy about my loss, although in my first week, I expected to lose a bit more as I usually have a high loss in the first week, which slows down in subsequent weeks. Thanks for taking the time to visit my diary. I really appreciate it! Questions always make me self-evaluate and what a mental journey it is losing weight!

I walked on the treadmill last night for 90 minutes. During the last thirty, I only walked at 4.3km per hr and it was enjoyable because I was watching a dvd, so I really wasn't pushing myself. I can't believe it this morning, I seem to have more space where my elbows meet my hips! WOWOWOW!!! I'm losing fluid or weight around my middle! In just over a week, my body feels tighter and is starting to change shape! HOORRRAYYYYY!!!!

I've noticed that while elminating foods, I'm finding that I'm possibly lactose intolerant (as I blew up after eating 1/2 a tub of lite cottage cheese OR retaining fluid (as in the same meal, I used salt). I really notice fluid when I'm on the treadmill as my hands become very tight.

So, my terribles this week were my 2 cupcakes and 1 sml piece of pizza. It hasn't upset the apple cart, only my crankyness at myself for lack of discipline, but hey, 6 leaps forward, 1 back. So alllll's good.

Total of 1.4kilos lost so far. I WILLLLLL be back into my size 12 clothes by Christmas... My fat feels like a couple of layers of clothing that I need to shed. I'm sooooo happy!!! Happy that I feel great for exercising and my god, I can't believe that I don't feel sluggish and so irratable! Some mornings were dreadful, no bounce and felt so swollen. YAYAYAYAY! feelin' great!

Finally, I really like keeping this diary, it helps with the 'mental' journey.
me :)
PS I think I might check out some better scales *clapping hands* eeek! how fun!!!

Hi pobox867 :) , I dont think we have 'spoken' yet but I thought I would just jump in and say hello, welcome and best of luck in reaching your goals.

In my opinion if the worst you have done is 2 little cakes and a slice of pizza I think you have done well. Theres no need to be cranky over it, look at it this way, that 2 little cakes and 1 small slice of pizza may have been what keeps you from having a bigger slice of pizza (or more) or a bigger piece of cake 2 days later.

Keep up the great work and I'll see you around :) .

Hi Pobox, well done on your loss for this week, 1.2kgs is great!

Please don't feel bad about being resentful towards your daughter. Us Mum's have so many expectations put on us to be the most perfect mother that sometimes when we want something for ourselves, we feel guilty for even thinking it! It's only human to feel the way that you do. You certainly weren't being self righteous as you proved it by thinking of your daughters needs first & foremost. You thought that it would not be in your daughter's best interest to spend hours at a cold tennis court, way past her bedtime, so that in itself proves that you're a great Mum! :D

Good luck for this weeks weigh-in, I'm sure all that walking on the treadie will pay off!
