When I got despondant about the first bit of weight I discarded (don't want to say lost - not keen on finding it again!), it was suggested that I get some 2 litre EMPTY soft drink bottles. As the weight goes down in 2 kilo increments, I fill up one of the bottles with water. That way, next time I complain that it's only 2 kilos, I can pick up the bottle to remind myself just how much 2 kilos actually weighs. I cant even imagine what 19 bottles (38 kg) is going to feel like.

Good idea. I have a very old sewing machine that weights 17.3kgs (yes, I weighed it!). Anyway when I had gotten to 17.5 kgs discarded (love your use of that word here) I lifted up the sewing machine, it is heavy!! I can't believe I was carrying that around, my poor joints and skeleton. But when you put on weight it is such a gradual thing the body adapts. Our bodies truly are amazing machines.
