As it is only Saturday night I really do allow myself to have anything. I always mean to have some chocolate but to be honest almost never fit it in (and I don't miss it, I have a savoury not a sweet tooth) and if we have soft cheeses after dinner (my big weakness) I have learnt to only have a few pieces rather than 1/2 the block! So the short answer....my choices aren't any better but the portion size are under control and I never stuff myself silly. My hubby is a wonderful cook but uses all the 'wrong' things so it is like going out to a restaurant and I guess that's how I look at it. I also get to have a desert where I don't look at the calories or fat content....ok ok yes I always know what it is anyway but I don't stress over it. I also keep the alcohol to a minimum but then I dont drink much anyways so it's no hardship.
Tonight

is a seafood platter so I get to have a little of evrything with hash browns cut into strips like fat chips. I am going to make the sticky date pudding Ally posted and that will be desert. Mmmm some chardonnay perhaps with dinner. So I have this instead of having fish and chips bought from the local take away....so you get some idea.
I figured out I might have cheat/treat meals/snacks 2-3 times a week. If I have 35 meals/snacks per week then that is only approx 10% of the time I eat 'bad' and it seems to work out fine for me. The rest of the time I actually enjoy the foods I now eat and that is a big plus.
