Letting myself off the hook...

Postby Mandie » Tue Sep 12, 2006 6:26 pm

I'm pretty stressed out at the moment.

Been doing 40+ hours at the hospital, along with attempting to have a social life, study, find time to myself, AND lose weight.

I've decided to let myself off the hook a little bit, just for this week.

I'm sick of feeling guilty because I am studying instead of going to the gym, or finishing an assignment instead of going for a walk. I'm sick of feeling guilty for having a nap instead of doing some exercise!

It's hard work, getting into a regular exercise routine. And as most of you will know, the first few weeks of starting said routine is the hardest - you get MORE tired and have LESS energy. Of course, after a week or so it gets better and you end up with MORE energy than ever before!

But basically, this is not the right time to start for me!

So I'm letting myself off the hook, for this week. It's my last week of this intensive rotation, I've got assignments due, and heaps of work to complete. Not to mention all the study I have neglected!

I'm going to enjoy my spare time this week, have naps, watch TV, and just generally chill out. I'm going to try to eat healthily at the same time.

Next week, I start my GP rotation - normal hours! 4 days a week!

So - a personal pledge:
THIS WEEK: Incidental exercise, if it happens. No pressure.

THIS WEEKEND: Go for a walk with a friend, kick the football around. Easy, chilled, fun exercise.

NEXT WEEK: Hit the gym to get back to my regular routine. 3 days a week!

I actually feel relieved and excited to have a plan in place!

Hi mandie

oh you sound so run down and stressed at the moment buddy, i really hope you get back into the swing of things soon. time contraints dont help when you are trying to lose weight hey. like i always say, keep your chin up and try not to run yourself down too much or you'll end up sick!
thinking of you and keep smiling :)

Hi Mandie. You sound so incredibly busy  At least it is only for one more week though, so there is an up side!

I found that when I was studying, a quick 20-30 min walk helped heaps to relieve the stress. I came back refreshed and ready to get back into it again. And often, I figured out solutions to the problems that I was having whilst I was out walking (sometimes I had to run back so that I could quickly write stuff down before I forgot  )

Well done on your 7kgs so far. Bet you can't wait till next week!

Take care of yourself :)

Hi Mandie

I like your plan and I think putting in some space for relaxation and destressing is just what is needed about now.

Chill and enjoy. :D

geez Mandie, you sound just too busy, but the end is in sight matey (not that it helps you right now!!) It sounds like the last thing you need is to be stressing about your weight and exercise plan. It is good that you are just going to kick back and relax a bit, I think your body needs it!! Take care of yourself mate, and just keep plugging away the end is in sight!!

Hi Mandie, it sounds like the week off idea is a good one.
It's always good to let the pressure down before it gets to you.

Okay, I'm back!

After a crazy whirlwhind trip to Adelaide and back (driving, from Perth!) I have returned in one piece!

After all the sitting on my bum driving, and the constant red bull (sugarfree though!) drinking, chocolate eating, crisp eating, cold tin spaghetti from a can eating (I know ,I know, we were camping!), I decided not to weigh myself this week!

I'm getting back on track now.. slowly.. Car is still filthy though!

I've been reading that DietGirl website that Kate posted about - it is SO inspirational!

Tonight, I have no plans and my parents are going away, so I have the house to myself! My plan is to have an exercise DVD marathon - it's been so long since I used any of them (as I don't have an extra room to go in, and mum and dad are usually watching TV in the evening!), so I want to see what I can get through! I used to get through 1-2 in a go, so we'll see!

I'm going to a big rave/dance party tomorrow night - should get there 9.30pm or so and it ends at 6am! I used to be able to dance the whole time (back when I was heavier, even!) so I am aiming for that again - that's some damn good exercise!

I'll weigh in on Sunday and see how I'm going! Be excited!

Oh yeah, and for those who follow AFL:

COME ON THE EAGLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
