FionaMac's weight loss diary

Postby FionaMac » Sun Nov 08, 2009 12:41 pm

I refuse to be FAT and 40. I have 1 yr to get FIT and FAB.
Ive spoken to my family and they all agree this is MY year.
I WONT feel guilty about spending money to help me loose weight.
I WONT feel guilty about taking time out to excersize.
I WONT feel guilty about taking time for sports.
I WONT feel guilty about spending all I need to on Healthy food.

Ive been going 2 weeks now, and already have noticed my headaches are not as many as usual.
Ive also noticed I can walk further in 30 min now than I could at the start.
And my energy levels have picked up a bit.
I dont think Im loosing it as fast as I should. Considering what Im eating and excersizing. BUT I must tell myself, any loss is in the right direction.
Well, thats it for today.

Congratulations on taking charge of your life! I did the same at the end of August and I am loving life!

Slow weight loss is a very good thing. If you eat enough calories (very important not to eat under what your body needs to function), eat good healthy food, do cardio and resistance training you are definitely well on the way to a healthier and happier life!

Hi Fiona, and welcome to the forum :)

It's great to hear that you're already noticing some benefits from your weightloss! Try not to get too hung up by the numbers on the scale, as weight can fluctuate quite a lot within a day - due to stomach contents, water retention, TTOM etc....Most of us find it's better to weigh in once a week or month, as it helps keep you accountable, without obsessing over the daily fluctuations.

Admittedly, I weigh myself daily but i'm a bit of an obsessive weigher! However, in the past, I used to get really upset if I'd had a 'gain' overnight and use it as an excuse to give up and eat badly. Now I just look at the number, and if it's lower, I use it to motivate myself, and if it's higher, I just shrug it off. I weigh in officially once a week, and that's the number I care about more. If I'm still showing a gain at my 'official' weigh in, I have a look at what I've been doing and see if I need to change anything in my diet/exercise routine :)

It sounds like you're eating well though, and i'm sure your weight will come off as a result! All the best.

Thank you miss viva....

I know I shouldnt worry about it. I know it will HAVE to come off eventually. And i noticed today, it was sooooo hard to stick to my guns. But i did!. And when I weighed myself tonight I was 107.6.....so I dont know why my weight is soooo up and down. But Im going to promise myself, that no matter my weight, high or low, i will eat well and do my 30 min at least a day.
Going to bed happy with myself. I have Control!

I know Im recording a bit more than once a day, but at the moment I feel I need to be accountable to someone. ME!
Today i did good.
40 min FAST walk. I went to the movies and didnt even have my treat i was going to allow myself. A choc top. Instead I had a small popcorn and I shared it with my husband. And a large diet coke.
So that was cool. I drank alot too. But peeing about every 1/2 hour -1 hour. Seems alot. maybe drinking too much?
Lunch i had a chicken sand with beetroot, no butter.
And Im cooking now, chicken stirfry....and boiled rice.

Feeling great. I measured myself today. I suppose I should record that here too.
Waist..........111.5cm
Bust............126.5cm
tummy.........136.5cm
Arm............36.5cm
Wrist..........18.5cm
Thigh..........74cm
Calf............47.5cm

Ive been really counting my caleries, and I seem to be getting about 850-930 cal a day.
With excersize and work I loose about 3500 cal a day......so it should be falling of me. But its not!
I guess it will eventually.
Ive cut out my milk from breakfast. And used water....it tastes YUCK, but thats a few more cal gone.
So breakfast was........oats, with water.
Lunch will be.............lite wrap with grilled chicken and lettuce, no butter. Diet shake IF needed
snack.....................diet yoghurt
dinner.....................cabbage chow mein. Family will have fried noodles, Ill have a little boiled rice.
weighed myself this mornin, 106.9 WHOO HOO finally on way down again.

I'm with Happygirl, your eating isn't "healthy" at the moment. You might think that you're doing the right thing by consuming less calories, but you really are eating way too few. When you eat too few calories, your body basically goes into starvation mode, and tries to hold on to the fat stores. Therefore, it actually makes it harder to lose weight. You should have a look on a reputable website like calorie king, and work out how many calories you should be consuming, based on your height and weight.

Also, this is just my opinion but I don't think it's healthy to go full days only 'eating' diet shakes and soup. Your body needs more nutrients, and you can't get those from shakes alone. However, some people do achieve some great results on shakes and I'm not trying to knock those people. Personally, I think you're a lot better off if you just try and eat well the majority of the time, and consume healthy and nutritious food. It's not natural to exist on meal replacements. I think they can be a helpful tool, if you were to maybe replace one meal a day, but not to solely eat them. Definately check out the amount of calories you need to be eating though, 900 is ridiculously low, especially if you're exercising a lot on top of that. You need calories (energy) to fuel your body for when you do work out!
