My 2 weeks on Optifast

Postby Aylilth » Sun Mar 14, 2010 10:17 am

I thought seeing as starting Wednesday I will be starting an Optifast diet for 2 weeks I would share what I go through.

And yes I do know that the shake diet is not the way to loose weight, but I am doing this as per my Dr's orders for my upcoming OP. Then will go back to how I was losing to begin with.

So I need to have 3 Optifast meals a day. I am going to have a shake in the morning, a bar for lunch. I am allowed 2 cups of veggies a day as long as they are not the starchy type. So Diner will be the Vegs and Dessert.

I am also allowed as much lite jelly as I want to help curb hunger, so I have some of this on hand. I also have sugar free lollies, gum and mints. These are to have while I get my kids food done and I am not tempted to nibble.

I still will try to exercise but will keep it at light, as I will be on about 900 cals a day with no carbs.

Wednesday Morning I will weigh in and record a starting weight.

This should be interesting I have heard ppl can lose a bit in the 1st few weeks.

End of day 1,

Seems ok, started to feel a little off tho from about 4 onwards. Can't really explain it almost a floaty type feeling. And now dry mouth has kicked in.

As far as being hungry goes I'm not. But I want to eat, tho it's a mental thing.

And the Choc. Dessert wasn't really the greatest so far.

Well 13 days to go now.

Ok day 2 done.

Today was pretty good again, tho had dry mouth at the start of the day but that seems to have gone now.

I can say I am not hungery at all. I think I am doing really well. Just need to see what the scales say tho.

And btw both desserts are ewwwww :|

Ok day 3 gone!!!!

Today was tempting, I was bored and wanted to eat. I missed eating really. And it's not like I want dorito's or anything. Just some cereal/toast. Anything but the shake or bar type thing.

I just keep telling myself 2 weeks will go by fast, then get this OP over with.

And the best of all, I am joining a gym. So it makes me want to finish even more to get on the road to recovery and hit the gym!!!!

Ok weekend over!!!!

And trust me ladies if I wasn't on Dr's order's do be doing this I wouldn't. I like my food as well.

There are a few side effects as well. At 1st it was dry mouth, then headaches. Now I feel like I have thios taste in my mouth, like a copper type thing. Anyways it's a bit nasty, as I can have mints and it still comes back after a bit.

I am also getting over veggies as well. Don't get me wrong I do like veggies but gimme a bit of meat with my Cauliflower type thing.

And I also think that b/c I had a month before I knew I needed to do the Optifast I was more mentaly prepared for it.

I was impressed tho as my boys had maccas this weekend and I didn't even steal a chip. I just munched on my little Optifast bar.

5 days down and 9 to go.

This sux!!!!

While I had a great loss the 1st week of 4.3 kgs to me not worth it.

I'm tired, headachy, moody and hungery.

I have only 5 days left after today thank god. Not sure what the weight loss will be next week should be interesting.

Even if I do lose I think I will put some it back on as I will starting eating again. I guess time will tell.

scary that a doctor would want you to lose weight this way. I really feel for you, hope the next 5 days gooes by fast and you can change over to a plan more suitable for you that doesn't involve headaches and stuff :(

Ya it is but I think there is reasoning behind it as it shrinks my liver or something like that.

I just keep telling myself that this will be over with soon. Then I get to eat again.

Well last weigh in on Opti and I lost 2.5kgs.

In 2 weeks on it I have lost 6.9kgs.

While yes happy about it at the same time not worth it, I will have to see what I put back on.

Well done hun - I have NO idea how you did it!!

Were you exercising at the same time? I tried a few days just having a shake for breakfast and lunch but still having fruit, etc. I went to the gym after work on one of those days and thought I was going to either vomit or fall over!!

Enjoy your food now!!

I did exercise for a bit during the 1st week. But found my energy level's were getting low after a bit, so stopped.

I did run around after the boys tho, did walks to preschool.
