The road is long and winding

Postby Downsizeme » Thu Mar 18, 2010 8:21 pm

Well hey all!

Some great people told me this is where everyone hangs out, so I thought I better get in here and start my journey properly :D

I started out an an unbelievable (to me) 116.9 kg. I have struggled with my weight pretty much all of my adult life and of course as the years went on on, I just got bigger and bigger.

My personality is pretty big (lol) and i've always said my weight never bothered me enough to do something about it, but of course that is an utter lie. Can anyone be happy with themselves at over 100kg? The health risks alone are astronomical, not to mention the emotional stuff that goes along with being an object of ridicule most of your life, particularly growing up - kids are cruel they say, and they are right.

I didn't have a life changing moment where I knew I had to do this, but there has been a long and winding road to where I am now, and I know that I am not going to let my weight be a hindrance to the person I really am a moment longer.

So, I have just come in from my weigh in, and I have somehow managed to lose 2.1kg's this week, despite not doing a heck of alot of excercise. This takes my total to 9.85kg lost since 5/2/10. I do the Jenny Craig program but for the past couple of weeks have actually done wy own thing for at least 2 days of the week (due to being out etc). I am pretty happy with my progress so far.

I'd like to be able to just eat healthy and do this on my own, but I acknowledge that at this point, I need the structure that JC provides. I hope to be able to wean myself off the food alot earlier than they would like lol

Best of luck to all that travel this journey!!! xxx

I started this journey on Feb 2 2010 and though I would like to be a size 5 by June, I am prepared to accept that it might take a bit longer :D

You should give Zumba a go, it looks like a lot of fun! From what Happygirl has said too, it seems like it gives you a really great workout :) I love your positive attitude, and I'm sure you're going to have a great weightloss story by the time you reach your goal!

Can't seem to update my ticker :( lol, but I have just come home from weigh in, and dropped a further 1.1kg this week. This loss has amazed me as I only walked once this week due to some very big days at work (big days stuck in meetings, so no excercise there either), so am pretty stoked with this result!

And, more importantly :D , I have this week discovered Werthers originals in sugar free...!! oh my..they are good! I have one with my coffee and it tastes just like having a caramel latte, yum!

Haven't had time to check in here much this week but hoping everyone is having a great week of losses :)

Well done on your loss of 1.1kgs! That's excellent.

I can't wait to try those Werthers Originals, they sound really good. I usually stick to those sugar free Eclipse Mints when I feel like something sweet :)

Hi Miss V

I'm doing ok I think..lol. I had a bit of a moment on sat night when my husband came home late and ordered a garlic and prawn pizza from Dominos. I REALLY wanted some and in the end could not resist. I would have liked to stop at one piece but sadly I succumbed to 2 more.. My only saving grace is that the pieces were small and the pizza had hardly any cheese on it, so the calorie count wasn't as high as it could have been.
My inclination was to starve myself the next day to try and claw back what I had eaten, but I decided that was stupid and I just got right back on JC the next morning. It was hard not to just chuck it in and have a bad day because I'd already "blown" it by eating pizza, but I stuck to it and got through the day

My weigh in is on Thurs, not really looking forward to it at this stage but hoping that if I stay on track until then it won't be too bad. I don't think I have gained, but I don't think I'll be pulling any big numbers this week somehow :D

How about you, hows it going?

Hi Downsize me :)

I was on the Jenny Craig program last year and it is awesome...i lost 15kgs on it!!

I am now on Lite and Easy to budge the final few as I feel I no longer need the motivation from someone else (never thought i would say that!! ) but just need the convenience of "grab and go" for my active lifestyle!

Just wanted to say best of luck and stick with it!! Oh and have a choc fudge cookie for meeeee those things are awesome!!!

Hi Court

I know, the choc fudge cookies are the best!!! :D

That is absolutely fantastic that you feel so in control of your weight, well done to you!!!

I have been looking at lite n easy, I like the fact that you can just buy the meals you want instead of the whole kit n kaboodle like JC, but i don't think they are in my area...

My freezer is full of uneaten JC food as I do have days of my own - I think I would go crazy on the JC stuff seven days a week, too much processed food for me. And it is SOOO expensive, but i guess I don't have to tell you that.

Thing is, it's working and because I have so much to lose, i am reluctant to give it up as i definitely don't want to put that 11kg's back on. Have to see how it goes I guess.

best of luck shifting those last few, hope I am in that situation one day!!! :D
