Hello Guys and Gals,

So starting a new weightloss stint as of 2 and 1/2 weeks ago. I have made a few attempts before - including previously an account on here! (Ambryi for those of you who are interested - no longer have the email address attached to the account, and can't remember password either  ). I have had minor success, and managed to steady my weight for awhile... but you all know how the story goes im sure

Anyway, coming back at just the tinist sliver under 80kgs - my heaviest so far. I do carry weight pretty well (165cm height, however solid frame - hourglass shape - weight tends to distribute fairly evenly). Even so, starting to look a little like the michelin man.

I was feeling quite overwhelmed about where to start this time, and after looking in to a few things I have decided that first thing is I need to get to 68kgs or under - this puts me in the 'healthy' weight range for my height according to BMI. Looking to drop the first 12kgs as quickly as I can healthily manage, I signed up for Lite n Easy.

So far so good - I was on the 1500cal for the first 2 weeks, and have now gone to the 1200cal (although i generally get about 1200 to 1400cal per day - mostly due to substituting some some of their options ie, my own jam on the mornings i have toast etc). I'm not terribly physcial, however have signed up for a dance class once a week (ballet) and looking at joining a local Zumba group as well. I enjoy dancing (even though I'm not really good at it!!) and I think I'm interested enough too keep it up - something I won't do with the gym etc.

Lite n Easy is quite expensive for me (generally quite frugal with grocery costs) and it cuts in to my own weekly spending money quite a bit, HOWEVER i feel confident now I'm on it that i can get this weight DOWN - and for me that justifies the cost, at least at the moment. The plan is to try to stay on it until I hit 68 kgs (as long as I can keep affording it - this is one of my only worries about this), then wean off it by staying on the dinners and having my own breakfast and lunch. I have read and agree with Jon Gabriels book, and I think there is a lot of common sense in the lower carb eating plans (LOWER not no carb!). So thats what I will try to move towards when I get down to 68kgs.

What an epic post lol. Congratulations to anyone who made it all the way down here  I plan to do offical weigh ins once a week on either Sat or Sun - so fingers (and toes) crossed :D

Woo! I made it to the bottom of your post

Welcome back! It sounds like you've got a pretty good plan and I wish you all the best. Lite n Easy should help you with your diet, and your dance classes sound good. I definitely think that the more exercise you can fit in, the easier it is to lose weight :)

All the best.

Thanks Miss Viva :D Kudos on making it to the end!! I am a bit of a rambler, in person as well as online

I agree about the exercise, and I think once I'm off Lite n Easy I might look at incorporating more, but I can't afford any more classes at the moment :( I do also walk the dog several times a week and swim in our (small) pool when its hot, but yeah I guess thats more incidental exercise?!

Congratulations on your weight loss so far. You must be very happy at 30kgs lighter :)

Oh also I didnt add in my post but more about me - 25yo, work fulltime in hospitality and in a long term (very happy) relationship :D

Walking the dog is a really good way to lose exercise, and it's also pretty fun too. I think the key is to find a form of exercise that you enjoy, that way it seems like less work.

You don't have to spend a fortune to exercise - as you've already worked out, walking is free! Maybe just focus on walking for longer distances or in shorter amounts of time/faster pace etc. Gradually build up, and I'm sure you'll notice a difference soon. You said you liked dancing, maybe you could buy a couple of dance/fitness dvds and dance around your house like a maniac? No one will see ;)

Well I have dropped a kg this week, taking me down to 76kgs :) I WAS actually hoping for a higher number on the scales, I know it isn't healthy to lose more than 1kg per week however as I am just starting out I was wondering if i would be lucky enough to have a few 'great' weeks first, as sometimes seems to happen. That said, I havent been as strict this week on the lite n easy... not exactly eating bad or anything. Anyway, the scale is heading in the downwards direction, and I'm happy enough with that :)

Exercise wise I've been quite slack, however work has been busy (due to the silly season) and as I've been doing more than usual waitressing I guess that can count towards this weeks exercise quota

Its good jumping on here tonight, for some reason this last day or two i've felt a little bored with the weightloss I guess, feel a little more renewed in my efforts now though:)

i meant to mention but forgot, but I have officially lost 4kgs in 4 weeks now - pretty good when I look at it that way :) I KNOW that 2kgs is probably just water weight or something, however I do feel a little less bloated and swollen up already. Just that slightest bit more comfortable with myself. I'm hopeful to get down to 73kgs - a kilo per week - for NYE. Its funny, I was 74-75kgs this time last year and was quite impatient and uncomfortable with that weight, but it feels a lot better going DOWN from 80kgs, than it did going UP, IYKWIM?

One thing I think is helpful is to count each little bit, rather than see the ultimate goal and think 'god, its going to be ages til i get there and this won't be worth it til i am' etc. The journey is still good - looking at it in terms of, every 5 kgs is going to feel better, is one of the helpful things I have taken away from previous efforts.

Didnt get around to post in this thread last week - naughty airly, lol! Anyway, lost a small amount - .5kg - last two weeks, hitting the 75 mark as of tonight. Feel this is a fairly accurate result as i've checked a few times this week and its been around there. (By the by, i use a very old set of scales - not digital or anything - so its hard to be exact. I actually like this, as i see a rough idea of how i'm going, rather than obsessing over eaach 300gm which i would probably otherwise do  )

Food choices have been very poor with all the festivity goodies about, however dont feel that i've gorged myself or anything - i've actually been so run off my feet i've completely missed a meal or two accidentally, which is funny because i am not one of those people who usually even can do this if i want to.

Will post more later in the week and check the other threads then too, as its now 3am on Christmas Day and I have GOT to get to bed and sqeeze in some sleep! Thanks ladies and Merry christmas :D

STill at the 75kgs mark - actually feel that I put weight on this week and was pleasantly surprised when I jumped on the scale to see that I hadn't. I suspect when the weather cools down more in melb I might drop a little - maybe even .5kgs - i have been drinking a lot of water which has been retained a little. :)

Anyway, VERY keen to get to the 60's asap! Thinking of going back on LnE now that the chrissy/new year period is over and social events have calmed down a little. Umming and ahhing about the expense really.

Definitely need to up the ante on the exercise too.

Living a fit and frugal is my resolution for 2011

Not weighing in today as its TTOTM, I'm bloated so bad its like i've eaten a hot air balloon and its soo hot in melb I've swelled up everywhere as well. Almost scared that if I jump I'll just float off in to the atmosphere. Blah!

Got my first Zumba class on monday so looking forward to that :) Also still not back on LnE, trying to eat low calorie ish for the moment, however will go back to LnE if that doesnt work out - am still eating LnE meals (frozen dinner ones) every other day or so.

STILL 75kgs - I feel like I've been here for a month already! Actually I think its a little less, but still...
Anyway, I did peek on the scales earlier this week, and was 76, however it has been hot here in melbourne and I had TTOTM so i think it was water retention related.
Been quite good these last few days, and getting back in to some exercise this week, hoping to be 74kgs in one weeks time! (or at least under the 75 mark!)

Pleased to report that the 74.5 seems to be sticking.. yay! Relieved to finally be under 75kgs after about a month of sitting there.

In other (also weighloss related) news I'm back on LnE this week - only the 5 day lunch & dinners, not the full eating plan I was on earlier.

So i jumped on the scales today and i'm back to 75kgs. Hopefully its due to the heat in melbourne atm and will go away again when it cools down. Still feel depressed about it and wish i hadn't looked. But oh well - hope everyone else has had a more successful week

Didnt have a proper weigh in this week, however I do jump on the scales every few days, and lately its been back down around 74.5kgs. Been eating ok but not great. Tend to still get snackish at night time, which I'm trying to curb but with only limited success.

I'm getting very slack with my 'official' weigh ins! However this week I've been drifting lower - was 73kgs the other day, but I think I may have just surprised my body at a good moment with that one! Will wait to next week to change my ticker, finger crossed I have another good week and can safely put down 73kgs :D
