I have recently undertaken my own weight loss odyssey and I'll be updating this regularly with my progress.
Little about me - I started my new healthy outlook on Monday the 20th August and officially weighed in at 142kgs. I'm about 6'3 and am 24. I've always been large, though I'd say my weight has been spiraling out of control for the past year or so. I've noticed simply tasks I used to perform previously are getting harder to do and I'm being restricted in activities I want to perform.
On the 20th I started eating differently and exercising. I signed up to a gym that day and began an exercise routine. Since then I have gone each day after work (bar one) and have noticed myself being able to progressively push myself and achieve higher goals each time I go. I started with 10 minutes on the treadmill, 10 on bike and 10 on cross trainer. I'm now able to knock off 15 on the treadmill (2 x minutes walking/1 x minute jogging/running), 15 on the bike (6-6.5km) and 10 on the cross trainer. I bypassed the treadmill altogether last Thursday and went 30 on the bike. I managed to cycle a good 12.5km, which is in stark contrast to the struggling 3 I managed on my first go.
Eating wise I've been much better. For breakfast I either have a meal replacement shake from OptiFast or I make my own Kale shake (inspired by Joe Rogan). In my own shakes, I blend kale, celery, cucumber, a strawberry, some blueberries and some broccili and make a no-so-delicious drink. When I stay at my girlfriends place and go straight from work, I'll have museli in the morning with skim milk (once or twice a week)
For lunch I have a meal replacement bar from OptiFast or I have a chicken salad (no dressings). If i've had the bar, I'll have a can of tuna at about 2:30 during the day on some Salatas before hitting the gym and having a lighter dinner. I'll have a stir-fry or some plain old chicken with an egg or some broccoli. Regardless of what I have, I make it as healthy as I can.
I have only been drinking water (and the skim milk in my museli) and have not even come close to touching any form of soft drink.
The only blemishes so far have been when I've actually gone out for dinner (have had a birthday, fathers day so far). I spoiled myself with a juicy steak with chips and even had a small dessert, but I haven't gone out of the way to have a larger portion, nor have I just eaten for the sake of it.
So far I've dropped 4kgs and am weighing in at 138kgs which I'm absolutely wrapped with. My goal weight is 90kgs overall, so here's hoping I can get there.
Thanks for reading guys, I'll be updating regularly
