Time to give my weight the ol' one two

Postby Michael1330 » Sun Sep 02, 2012 10:21 pm

Hey guys,

I have recently undertaken my own weight loss odyssey and I'll be updating this regularly with my progress.

Little about me - I started my new healthy outlook on Monday the 20th August and officially weighed in at 142kgs. I'm about 6'3 and am 24. I've always been large, though I'd say my weight has been spiraling out of control for the past year or so. I've noticed simply tasks I used to perform previously are getting harder to do and I'm being restricted in activities I want to perform.

On the 20th I started eating differently and exercising. I signed up to a gym that day and began an exercise routine. Since then I have gone each day after work (bar one) and have noticed myself being able to progressively push myself and achieve higher goals each time I go. I started with 10 minutes on the treadmill, 10 on bike and 10 on cross trainer. I'm now able to knock off 15 on the treadmill (2 x minutes walking/1 x minute jogging/running), 15 on the bike (6-6.5km) and 10 on the cross trainer. I bypassed the treadmill altogether last Thursday and went 30 on the bike. I managed to cycle a good 12.5km, which is in stark contrast to the struggling 3 I managed on my first go.

Eating wise I've been much better. For breakfast I either have a meal replacement shake from OptiFast or I make my own Kale shake (inspired by Joe Rogan). In my own shakes, I blend kale, celery, cucumber, a strawberry, some blueberries and some broccili and make a no-so-delicious drink. When I stay at my girlfriends place and go straight from work, I'll have museli in the morning with skim milk (once or twice a week)

For lunch I have a meal replacement bar from OptiFast or I have a chicken salad (no dressings). If i've had the bar, I'll have a can of tuna at about 2:30 during the day on some Salatas before hitting the gym and having a lighter dinner. I'll have a stir-fry or some plain old chicken with an egg or some broccoli. Regardless of what I have, I make it as healthy as I can.

I have only been drinking water (and the skim milk in my museli) and have not even come close to touching any form of soft drink.

The only blemishes so far have been when I've actually gone out for dinner (have had a birthday, fathers day so far). I spoiled myself with a juicy steak with chips and even had a small dessert, but I haven't gone out of the way to have a larger portion, nor have I just eaten for the sake of it.

So far I've dropped 4kgs and am weighing in at 138kgs which I'm absolutely wrapped with. My goal weight is 90kgs overall, so here's hoping I can get there.

Thanks for reading guys, I'll be updating regularly :)
Starting weight = 142kgs
Current weight = 129kgs

Yes well done Michael!

So many of the people on this forum have lost weight progressively over time. It is inspirational.

I love reading the success stories they egg me on to exercise more and to eat within 1200 calaries.

I'm stepping up my exercise each week and feeling better for it. Into my 4th week. Lost 3 kgs :D

I had snitzel and chips on Father's Day for lunch but ate only an apple and tiny salad for tea.
The scales should tell if this one off mattered, or not.

Keep up the healthy eating habits and exercise and you should see great results.

Cheers
Colleen

Cheers guys!

Put the terribly disappointing result last night in the footy behind me by hitting the scales this evening to see I've dropped another 2kgs.

Been hitting the gym a little harder this week and my diet is still going great guns! Down to 134 now. Still allowing myself 1 cheat meal a week too :D

Hoping the 2kg cycle continues and that I hit double digits as far as kgs lost goes next Sunday!

Congrats on your loss! I love a good cheat meal! Mine this week was chicken Parma haha! What kind of workout do you do at the gym?

thanks heaps :D

how good are parma's hey? Can't go wrong with one!!

So far I do 17 mins on the treddy. I start with a jog at 7.5km/h for 3 minutes before alternating to 2/1, 2 minutes walk/1 minute run. Running normally between 9.5 - 11.5 km/h. Kills me when I look over and see some people cranking out 40 odd minutes at 14km/h, but progress is progress!

Then follow up with 30 straight on the cross trainer at level 10. Just a giant mass calorie burner that machine.

So that's what I'm doing so far at the gym. Will start to increase time spent over the next few weeks and might try a few different machines (I'm eyeing off that rowing machine).

I LOVE the rowing machine haha, something about the rhythm of going backwards and forwards i get in a trance :)

im slowly building up my running, i have an app on my phone and i am up to week 4, its funny it never seems to be too hard, it seems the same difficulty as it was when i was running 1 min intervals now i do intervals of 3 and 4 mins running between walks, i thought it would kill me but its building up nicely :).

and yes parmas are awesome :)

where abouts are you from?

Keep up the great work!!!!

Haha yeah I've gotta give it a go, haven't quite jumped on it yet!

That's awesome that it is, keep up the top work! Owning it!

I'm from Perth, u?

So the weighin on Sunday was disappointing. Came in at 134! So the same weight as I was, haha. Knew I would have a dead week of 0 sooner or later so I'm right back on the saddle owning up the gym.

You could also be building muscle or retaining fluid. Good on you for smashing it at the gym!!

Nice, Melbourne's awesome, love that place.

So I weighed in on Friday opposed to today. This was a specific strategic decision I had in place a few weeks ago as I was planning to have a massive Grand Final day (beers, bbq etc). Alas, it was a great day yesterday for it and won't weight in until next Sunday.

On Friday I had dropped another 2 kgs.

So 132 all up and into double digits. In the words of Monty Burns

Excellent.
