JP's - 2014 or bust!

Postby JP1 » Mon Jan 13, 2014 9:24 am

Can't put it any simpler than that..

Got back from month overseas yesterday and weighed in this morning at 112.1 Kgs (official start) after a high of 113.5 Kgs late last night..

There's now just NO excuses.. normally I leave it a couple of weeks to "prove" I am on the right track (yeah right! ;) by losing a few Kilo's before coming on here but from today I am going to be brutally honest with myself and everyone here, I need the accountability!

I'm not down, in fact have just had a bloody great time away but the rot has to stop!

112 Kg is my highest EVER.. I didn't record but must have hovered 105-110 Kgs in early 2000's and then in Sept 2007 I started at 107 Kgs and got down to circa 78 Kgs after about six months so I know I can do this..

Past couple of years I have gone from 90 to breaking through the 110 so just NOT good!

Goals? Well we will see..

Step 1 is get through next few weeks and head to <100 Kgs

Going away again on Good Friday for 2 weeks - so would settle for say 95 Kgs by then which is more than doable

Then sub 90 and ultimately sub 80.. people say I looked "gaunt" at 78 Kgs so 80-82 is probably my ideal but right now and here I am going to set my goal at 79.9 and then take it from there.. Maybe I will refine goal as I go along but there it is by (say) July 1st

32.2 Kgs to lose and it sounds a life time away at this very moment but it's a realistic target considering my prior..

So from today healthy living and away with all my snacks, choccies, you name it! Will alawy myself a "few" beers along the way or else it is a non starter but all other 'naughties' are out for six months as of now! - will also tell you in Confessions if I break any of this..

Oh yeah and Exercise starts from today - I'm not a big one on this so it won't be stupid but I do and have had my moments.. I'm incredibly strong willed when I want/need to be and have always been mentally fit even when not physically fit so I have to get back into this zone again.

Anyway hope a few of the oldies can support me through this and hope to liase with a few of the newies as well.

My previous is out there somewhere so the oldies (from 2007/08) know I have it in me, I just got to get back to some of those old habits.

Hey JP,

Welcome back!

Like you I've had to start the journey again so together I know we can get through this hard road and smash the kg's (for good this time!)

Things happen, life happens but that's just no excuse. It has taken me a long time to stop making excuses for why I gained and just get off my butt and do something ;) Not saying the road will be easy but glad to see you wanting to stop it here and get back to being healthy and happy with yourself.

If you like, please join the 12 week challenge I have started in the challenge thread :) It may motivate you to kick the kg's to the curb! It's never going to be easy, life is filled with temptation and yummy, bad things  But if we can resist them most of the time without depriving ourselves then that's a very important step.

Glad to see you back and raring to go, let's make 2014 the year we reach goal! (finally!!!)

OK first 24 hours done and dusted!

Yesterday I had some Muesli forbreakfast and because I was so bloated form indulgance at my Last Supper the night before  I just took a banana for lunch and in the evening I had a fairly small portion of yummy chicken, a little rice and assorted portion of veggies. Normally I'd eat at least twice that for a main meal but not last night or for sometime I guess! :| Must say I was a bit hungry for a while but had some water and then went for a 40/45min walk and bed! Will step up my exercise but after a month away I was pretty tired from work yesterday.

94 days to Good Friday when I am off o/s again and feeling top notch this morning.

So anyway, forgot to say yesterday I couldn't fit into my size 36 trousers for work  - got a load more 34's jeans and slacks that I have been out of for months and months. I had to dig into a pair of old size 38's that I never threw away from 7/8 years ago yesterday but glad to report today I am back in those 36's again but my aim are those 34's and even a pair of black jeans 32's  - we will see about them

This morning I weighed in at 109.9 down from 112.1 no doubt due to beer evaporation  but feeling good.

Brought plenty of water to work this morning.. Brekkie was 2 crushed weetabix with peaches and low fat milk.

Lunch is fruit and a small toasted sarnie no butter.

Laters.

Got home from work early, went for a near 2 hour walk mostly alongside the beach.. Just eaten a chicken dish, portion was not what I'm use to but had plenty of fruit salad afterwards..

Feeling good..

Legs are feeling it this morning  great big very steep hill at the end but went straight up it, was nice coming down the other side ;)

Into the third day now but got to crack 2 weeks and see some progress before I really can get 'in the zone', thats the period I usually fail within but BIG motivation this time!

Yep, I hear ya JP! That's exactly what I did when I finally came back and boy, did I feel silly! All that hard work...GONE! No time to dwell though, just gotta dig your heels in and get yourself back to where you want to be :)

I'm at the end of week 2 now and feeling pretty good. Just keep smashing through those crappy feelings that come at the beginning and soon you'll be super energetic and wanting to kick this excess weight to the curb! And if you feel disheartened, come on here first and express your need to eat the bad foods. I'll kick your butt! :P

Thanks for calling past Shelley, looking for some EXTRA motivation but all good.. Haven't craved for anything yet or even been tempted, no doubt those times await this weekend when I get more time on my hands.. this place gives me accountability so you'll normally find me round here when things are going well.. its when I disappear ya have to worry for me ;)

I try to post on here as much as I possibly can because as you say, it keeps you accountable with people constantly checking in :) If I see you disappear, I'll be coming to find out why! Not that I can talk, I've done it many times before, only to come back needing to drop weight again  this time I refuse to leave because I know what that means for my weight loss journey and my sanity! :P

All the best with the weekend, I do find it harder also, more idle time to think about yummy food. I take solace in the fact it's summer and I don't feel like eating as much. I try to keep in the same routine as during the week and tweak things slightly to suit (ie, I still get to have burritos of a Saturday night, I just limit it to 2 wraps with salad and stick with beans instead of meat - I can't eat it anyway)

If you can, try finding a proper 12 week challenge? I'm doing one at the moment through My Fitness Pal, its been a huge help keeping me on track as I don't want to let the team down (or myself).
