wk 1 61.9

Hoping that this the end of the pendulum swing and it will start to go back the other way. The exercise has to catch up my metabolism sometime!

Don't be too concerned. The human body tries to maintain weight against fat loss. For example, fat cells initially maintain their bulk by absorbing water. But there is always a breaking point at which a good diet and exercise wins.

Thanks ChronicBadger! I have many many moments at present where I just want to give up. But there have been a couple of other moments where I have seen that my body looks fit, even though it is more padded than usual. So I'm trying to tell myself I prefer a fit 'fat' version, to a weak floppy fat version! The water running has given me back some muscles in my legs, so I should really celebrate the positives...just, oh please spare tyre, DIMINISH!

Thank you both of you - I've missed you!! Timely too. I was ready to give up today. But I haven't (yet) to my surprise. I've achieved good eating, my 35mins deep water running, and an hour of BORING rehab. I'm not posting weight this week - too depressing - but I also think it might be drugs as I've had 3 days of not being able to move my neck without shooting pain, and the added weight only happened after the two nights of meds (prior to that I was tracking a loss!). Okay, I think I've talked myself into another week...This is such an exercise in patience and discipline, it really isnt funny.

On the positive, I have rehab exercises! That means we are moving forward to being able to walk for exercise...and eventually more. Eventually. I'm working on being able to move muscles without any weight yet. And I'm at the stage of just staring at my feet shouting 'MOVE' with my mind and being aghast that nothing happens!! Long road?! Yeah, and I've just started to understand it.

Oh Tams...always post your weight if you can. As they say "Tell the truth - and shame the devil!"
By posting it keeps you accountable - in season and out.
By posting it keeps your support team (us here on the Forum) updated...
then with that information we may be able to pin point something that could help you cope or fix.

From what you have posted, I suggest that maybe your weekly number could indeed be the side effect of the drugs. They often promote water retention which will look bad on the scales but in reality isn't bad at all. Also when injured, the body will tend to water retention naturally because it needs it to get the healing happening.

Hang in there! You ARE doing well! 8)

Good work on the accountability front...gosh it does show your good character (and consistent with your past actions too) - excellent. 8)

62.9kg is concerning but still within water retention grounds. Hopefully you will start to see a turn around real soon. :)
How's the neck going now?

  What's more concerning is that you've added another 300g to Tam's woes!! Oh Blitz, you silly goose!!

Seriously though......

Tams, don't be disheartened, you'll be fine and I'm sure you'll be back to your usual 61.9 in next to no time; it's all as rightly put it it's most likely just "water retention" which albeit annoying will disappear after a few visits to the bathroom!!

 Okay...sue me! My only defence is carelessness!

Tams...just goes to show you that the long term trend is more important than the odd number or two.
So long was you can figure out what is happening then experience at reading the numbers will allow you to have a relaxed view of them.
The bottom line is always - if you are doing all the right things then sooner or latter your body will fall in and follow. 8)

Keep going Tams! 8)
