Week 3 Cont...

Postby Lizzie » Sat Jul 07, 2007 1:18 pm

Thanks everyone for your support. I was having a really bad day yesterday  The kids were extremely feral and my husband and I turned on each other under the strain of constant whinging, tantrums and lack of sleep. I wish we pulled together more in those times rather than taking the frustration out on each other. Anyway today is another day - the darlings are both asleep, H is playing football and I have some time to myself!! One great thing about yesterday is that I did not turn to food. I caught myself opening the pantry and taking out some biscuits when we had just had an argument. I gave them to the kids instead because I knew I was not hungry. It was frustration, disappointment and anger. I have to think about why I always turn to food.
Anyway this week is water week. I have to increase my water consumption. I will make sure I have a drink first thing every morning to get me started on a good note.

Good on you for turning away from those bickies, Lizzie. Sounds like you're making some good choices... and having a much better day today. Enjoy it :)

nice work lizzie. sometimes we find our hands on those types of foods and realise at the last second theyre not what we really want. hope the kids are better behaved for you today! some days like that you just want to crawl back into bed with all your comfort foods and not face anyone! but you have done well. and dont worry we all have disagreements and frustrations with our partners lol.

Week 4

Postby Lizzie » Fri Jul 13, 2007 10:08 am

Shock Horror a gain of 500g

I am really disapointed. I knew it wasn't a great week but there was no snacking but too much drinking. I crawled back into bed after the weigh in and started to think about what went on last week. Friday night we went to inlaws for dinner. I took a warm chicken salad and that is all i ate but did have 2 or 3 glasses wine. I ended up going to stay with a friend at her inlaws holiday house on Sat night. She suggested that we get pizza for dinner and I said that I would make something instead so made a good choice there but we had a bottle of wine with dinner and i probably had 2/3 of it. Sunday was good but we went to my parents for dinner and had a roast (probably not a great choice) and yet again another couple of glasses of wine. Monday was fine except two other girls from work have joined me on my walks and they walk too slowly so my walks from mon -wed are not as vigourous as they have been. Tuesday night I had too much pasta for dinner (went back for seconds  )Wednesday I had lunch with my sister in law at a cafe she works in. I had the chicken, leek and mushroom pie which basically just had filo pastry on top but I think it was probably laden with butter and cream because it was absolutely delicoius. Last night I went out for Thai with friends. I wasn't terrible tried to stick to stirfrys but a few spoons of curry slipped on my plate but again had 3 or 4 glasses of wine. Yep when I write it down like that too much drinking. Anyway I have joined calorie king and will start counting my calories each day and start using a food diary. Hopefully this will help.
This week is going to be challenging so I just have to work my way through it. We are going to stay with old friends this weekend who we haven't seen for years so I will be drinking Friday and Saturday nights  It is my son's second birthday on Thursday and we are having all the family over for dinner (both sides) Thursday night. At least if I am catering I can control what goes on the menu!!
I am going to give myself until the end of September to get down to my first mini goal of 120kg If I haven't reached it by then I will have to seriously consider joining a weight loss program.

hey lizzie

sorry to hear about the gain :? i suppose the good thing is that it made you stop and think about the drinks you had over the course of the week and a couple of food choices and your exercise. you know where you could have improved so thats the best lesson learnt. strive for your goals lizzie and enjoy your week :) my daughters second birthday is in december. birthdays are special :) so i hope you have a nice day with your son on his :)

Hey Lizzie - don't beat yourself up about the gain. It's all about trial and error. I think you did a really good thing to reflect on the week and work out why the gain may have occurred. Calorie King should really help you out there to understand the exact value of everything you put in your mouth :)

Hey Lizzie,

I think a healthy lifestyle takes a bit of getting use to. I started by just including exercise into my daily life... It probably took me a good 3 months before I was no longing craving bad foods and wanted to eat well and exercise frequently. Don't give up hope. It does get easily...

Start with small goals (such as your water goal)... And then everything else will fit into place. With your water goal - I find that it is extremely easy to drink my 2L of water if I have a glass before every meal. The water also fills you up so you do not eat as much. Most hunger pains are really signs of dehydration!!!

Good luck... I've been in your exact position not very long ago. It gets easily - and the weight will just slip off you!

I agree with Lauren, it does take time to get into these habits and stick with them. The food diary is a great idea so you can really see not only what you are eating but what you are drinking too. People tend to forget or gloss over their beverages.

Oh and if your friends are walking with you for exercise time to make them move their bottoms! I actually walk alone with my iPod so then I can move as fast or slow as I choose but then I am a bit anti-social when it comes to exercise.

Week 5

Postby Lizzie » Sat Jul 21, 2007 5:47 pm

It is great to see the scales heading in the right direction this week (1 kg) - especially with the holiday and birthday and also a dinner last night. I have kept up the exercise each day which is really helping. I have decided that my life is always busy and full of socialising so it is something I need to incorporate and not see as a special event. It is week 5 and I have lost about 5kg so I am on track. I will have to go back and read my original goal but I think it was one kilo a week for the first 6 weeks. Puts the pressure on for this week! I have found the food diary to be very helpful but just haven't found much time to get on the computer! Anyway I hope everyone is well and I am planning to read all about your progress later tonight when the little ones are in bed

Week 6

Postby Lizzie » Fri Jul 27, 2007 3:03 pm

Well I have done it another kilo down. I am feeling really good and positive. I am starting to feel the loss in my clothes which is always nice. This week I am just continuing along as usual. I said 6 kg in 6 weeks and that has been achieved! The first mini goal was to get down to 120kg and I am almost half way there. It will be great to reach this point. So it is 6 down and 7 to go - hopefully next week I will have crossed the point where I have less to lose than I have already lost. (that is for my first mini goal!) I am doing well with my walks and I am going to stretch them out for a little longer for the next 6 weeks. I will then probably have to up the intensity a bit - maybe do a class or join a gym or have a personal trainer for a little while. I will keep thinking about this and as long as the weight keeps coming off I will continue with the walking
