Hi there Chief - it's a good idea to just weigh yourself once per week, same time, same set of scales. I've put my scales away for a while because I find that they rule my life a bit too much - they can put me in a great mood, or they can make me cranky!
But a weekly weigh-in to track your progress is still a good idea and you won't have to deal with the daily emotions of what the scales say.
I have a dog, too and I have a new saying now - there's never an excuse not to walk him. So when I get in late, it's dark and cold and I can't be bothered going out again, a little voice kicks in and says "there's never an excuse" and I put on my walking shoes and at least take him out for 10-15mins around the block.
Hang in there! It will soon become habit.
Just keep moving! And don't be lazy...
