Finally the site is allowing me to get the recaps:
The Biggest Loser - Episode Seventy
Wed 23 Apr 2008 11:08 AM
Today Shannan's primary focus is training - this maybe one of the last times he gets to train with the contestants in the White House. From now on, every single training session counts. Shannan says that he intends to take the remaining contestants to their absolute max.
Shannan starts with some boxing training, something which Kirsten feels is apt considering where the stage they are at the competition. This time is all about focusing, and boxing is definitely workout that requires a lot of concentration. After a few warm up sessions on the pads, Shannan grabs a helmet and tells Alison, Sam and Kirsten that this is their time to let go - it was time to spar with Shannan!
Sam is first up, and is clearly reluctant to give it his all - pulling all of his punches. But slowly and surely he lets it all go and starts to give Shannan a run for his money. Kirsten is next and she's out like a bolt! Alison says that after seeing Kirsten sparring with Shannan, she definitely doesn't want to meet her in a dark alley any time soon. Alison is next and Shannan is pleased to see that the timid mum from the beginning of the competition is gone! With a right, a right and a sucker punch from the left, Shannan could see that Alison is definitely a contender for the ultimate prize…
The contestants are asked to assemble in a darkened room, in front of them a table with various foods all placed in a single line - this looks hauntingly familiar. Sam definitely remembers being in this situation before - a serious case of deja vu. It is the exact replica of the first ever Temptation the contestants had to face in week one! Kirsten remembers that on the first week, no one had taken Temptation, but it may be different this time around…
Ajay welcomes them to Temptation, saying that 12 weeks on since the beginning of the competition and by now they should have overcome those bad eating habits that they had come into the house with, however they are about to face their biggest test yet. Ajay explains that in front of them are 15 plates, each of them having a variety of low and high calorie foods - from a 5 calorie chocolate to a 1671 calorie hamburger and chips. The moment she rings the bell the contestants will have 10 minutes to pick up a plate of food, which they will then have to eat. Once the food is eaten the plate is stacked in the middle of the table and a second round begins. At the end of the game, the contestant with their plate at the top of the pile will win Temptation. Alison says that she wants to set a good example to her kids, and by eating the food in front of her that has caused her to become overweight in the first place, isn't the best thing for her or her kids.
But before Temptation begins, the contestants need to know what they are playing for. Sam says that in the past they have been offered prizes, weight advantages and the like - what does Ajay have in store for them today? Ajay announces that the prize for Temptation is a guaranteed ticket to the Biggest Loser Finale!
Everyone is clearly shocked. Alison says that this is her opportunity to get all the way to the end. Ajay explains that if no one plays Temptation, just like on the first day, the winner will be determined by pure chance. When the contestants walked into the darkened room, they chose a disc to stand on at random. Hidden beneath one of the discs is Ultimate Immunity. The question they all face now is: Do you succumb to Temptation and forego weeks of training, or do you let fate decide…?
Ajay rings the bell, and Temptation begins. Garry says the tension in the room was phenomenal - everyone was holding firm. Sam begins to rationalise the situation in his head: 5 calories and Ultimate Immunity doesn't seem so bad when last week he ate 1000 calories for a 1 kg weight advantage. Bryce looks around and sees that Alison and Kirsten are adamant that they're not going to take the Temptation. He wasn't going to take it either, and so Bryce suggests that they all make an agreement not to take Temptation and let fate decide. But Sam isn't so certain about the arrangement - any one of them could jump off their disc at the last second and eat the 5 calorie chocolate and win Immunity - he needs a complete guarantee that everyone keeps to their word. Everyone takes a vow to let the 10 minutes fly.
5 minutes fly by, and so only 5 minutes left to go and everyone is still holding strong. Sam looks down the line and sees Alison, Bryce and Kirsten holding steadfast. Garry on the other hand looks a little more conflicted than the rest. Garry admits that the thought of only consuming 5 calories would be a small price to pay for such a large prize, but the image that it would portray of whoever takes the bait would be monumentally damaged to say the least.
There are only 10 seconds left on the countdown and quickly counting down. 3… 2… 1… and Temptation is over. Everyone is glad that no one had given in. Alison says that the Temptation was a really hard temptation to resist. Ajay congratulates all of them for not succumbing to Temptation - they all showed great strength and discipline, the qualities needed to win the competition. However, there still needs to be a winner - it's time to see who stands on Ultimate Immunity. One by one they flip over their discs. Sam doesn't have it. Garry doesn't have it. Alison flips her disc over and lo and behold in great big bold lettering: Immunity. She could hardly believe her eyes - she is guaranteed a place at the Finale! But Immunity wouldn't be anything without The Walk - shortly Alison will have to take the final walk to the urns and bring back a stone that Ajay says will blow everyone away…
