A Helping Hand

Postby oostevens » Mon Oct 22, 2007 3:01 pm

Hi ladies :) (sorry guys this is for the ladies)

I was just wondering if anyone had any size 16 tops or size 16 bottoms that are appropriate officewear, that are no longer being used.

A good friend of mine is is 5mths pregnant and has just been approved for bancruptcy (sp?). Her and her boyfriend don't have much if any money at the moment as they are trying to set things up for bub's arrival in Feb next year. My friend has been applying for a few office jobs as standing up all day in the warehouse is hurting her legs and back and she is finding it difficult to work.

I was able to give her some tops of mine, but i didn't have much to give her.

I was wondering if anyone would like to donate some clothes to give her a hand? I would be happy to pay postage.

Thanks ladies.

Rach

Im really sorry but I dont have anything as Ive never really worn officy type clothes  BUT when I was pregnant with connor I had ZERO money (I was 16, partner had knicked off on me,mum and dad had just divorced, I was only working part time the list goes on  lol) anyway, I got sooo much of my maternity stuff (and baby stuff including furniture) from op shops...you have to search but if you are prepared to dig through, you can find some really good quality and nice stuff for a few dollars a piece :) I was at the op shop today and got 3 pumpkin patch tops and some leather sandals for connor for $2.50! They are brilliant! I get heaps of my clothes from there now too :) All different sizes etc....I know some ppl are really not into op shops, I have friends who are like 'ew' lol but its there loss! its a suggestion :D ;) xxx

That's so nice of you! I wish I had something suitable!

I second opshops though. My friend's friend recently turned 17 and got a couch for her birthday because it cost $1. It was useful at the party. ;)

Random tangent - Pumpkin Patch. My other friend started working there recently. She sold someone over $1000 in one go!!! Some people go a little nuts in that shop... She suspects he was a divorced father trying to earn points... ;)

I wish there was something I could do but I don't have any clothes to give.

Op Shops are a brilliant idea. Or the local flea markets, some people sell their clothes there really cheap.

hey I just had another thought :)
Has she looked into something called a belly belt? Doesnt help with tops, but its like a stretchy piece of elastic that hooks into the button/zip of your regular pants so they stretch over your belly...personally after 4 months I was too fat to use one  but then i was huge lol You can buy them from bras and things....about $20 I think? or maybe have a look on ebay? That way (even short term or throughout her entire pregnancy if she's lucky!) she might be able to wear her regular pants ;) xx

i might have a look at some op shops sometime. Or ask her about them. I dunno how she'd feel though, I don't want to offend her. She knows i want to help. I am giving her our spare bed, and i told her i am available to help now, during the birth period and afterwards as well.

Kate when are u coming to Queensland again?
