Postby tamlee » Fri Nov 02, 2007 2:57 pm

HELP Pretty please,

I need some ideas for party games for 10 year olds, I don't want to make games up that are to little for them LOL if you know what I mean! I have pass the parcel I think even ten year olds would still enjoy that one, and freeze . But I'm at a loss to think of anything else that the 10 year old girls would like LOL . I guess they would like musical games !!! Argghhhhhh I really don't know!

So please anyone jump in and give me some ideas please the party is a sleep over and is on tomorrow :) I have some goodies etc for prizes.

Thanks

INSIDE GAMES
Games to play inside- Quiet games!

How Many?
This is a great game to keep kids occupied while waiting for everyone to arrive. Fill a jar with Jellybeans (or any other lolly) and when each person arrives they have one guess at how many there are. The closest wins the jar to take home - don't announce it until the end of the party.

Dog and the Bone
The children sit in a circle.
One child sits in the middle with his eyes shut and a bone behind him.
A person in charge points to one of the children in the circle.
That child has to creep in and get the bone and put it behind his back.
All children put there hands behind their back and say Doggie, doggie, who s got the bone?
The dog then opens his eyes and has to try to choose who has his bone. He has two guesses.
If he guesses correctly he has another turn. If he dosen t the child with the bone is the new dog.
The game then starts again.

Who Am I?
The children all sit in a circle.
One child is chosen to put his head down and close his eyes.
The leader then points to one of the children in the circle who says
Who am I?
The child with his eyes closed has to open them and try to guess who it was.
If he guesses correctly he has another turn.
And so the game goes on.

Sleeping Lions.
When the leader calls out Sleeping Lions each child has to drop to the floor and lie as still as possible with eyes shut.
Anyone that moves is out.

Pass the Parcel
A present is wrapped in many layers of paper.
The children sit in a circle. Play some music and ask the children to pass the parcel around the circle.
Stop the music. The child holding the parcel unwraps just one layer of paper .
Start the music again and the children must pass the parcel around the circle again. Watch where you stop the music so that each child can have a turn.
The game continues until the parcel has been completely unwrapped and the winner gets the prize in the middle.

Mix em up.
Create two teams with equal number of kids.
Team A goes into another room and Team B switches some of their clothes and accessories with other team members. Keep track of how many items that you change.
Bring Team A back into the room and give them 5 mins to list as many items as they can see have been changed.
Now reverse this and let Team B leave the room. Give them 5 mins to guess and the winner is the one who guess the most items correctly.

Wrap em up
Divide children into two teams.
Each team selects one person to be wrapped up.
Each team is give a few rolls of toilet paper and when the word "go" is given each team races to wrap em up. The team to totally cover the team member first is the winner.
Just a hint - take it slowly and you won't tear and paper and have to start again.

Balloons Up
Keep the balloon in the air the longest and win.
Game is played best with two people at a time so that you can have a play off at the end.
Each person bounces their balloon on their heads to keep it in the air - no hands, feet or other objects to help.
Winner is the one who keep sit up their the longest.
Make sure your area is clear so that you don't trip over.

Outside Games

Balloon Race
Put the children in two teams and give each child a balloon.
Each child in turn has to get from the start to the finish holding the balloon between his Knees.
If they drop the balloon they have to go back to the start and start again.
When both teams have finished the game is over.

Follow the Leader
The children line up in a line behind a leader.
They then have to follow the leader and do all the actions he does.
The leader can walk then wave arms then jump and so on and all the other children have to do the same.
After a while a new leader can be chosen.

Freeze Tag
The birthday child is IT first and runs around trying to catch the other children.
Anyone who is caught must freeze and stand as still as possible. They cannot move again until another child touches them and unfreezes them.
Whoever is tagged twice becomes the next IT.
When the child playing IT changes , any player who is still frozen can unfreeze.
The games starts over again.

What's the Time Mr Wolf?
One child is chosen to be the wolf and stand out the front with his back to the other children.
The other children stand on a line.
They start to creep up behind the wolf saying Whats the time Mr Wolf?
The wolf can turn around and say 3 O clock, or 6 o clock or any time he likes and the children have to stand still.
If the calls out DINNER TIME the children have to run back to the start without getting caught by the wolf.
If they are caught they have to sit down on the line and are out.
The child left at the end is the next wolf.

I copied these from a website! I bet there's heaps more

 celeb heads

 what's in the box?
(i play this one at school from prep to grade 6!!)
- place a common object in the box and kids get to shake it and have a guess at what it is. the winner gets a prize.

 get someone to describe a picture only they can see using shapes, direction etc and get the others to draw how the person is explaining it. kids love to laugh at how different their pics turned out to the original!

The party was a hit :) Thanks to everyone for the ideas we did lots of games, the girls loved them :)

We did have some fights though LOL and I ended up sending two
of the trouble makers home (OH I'm nasty LOL) but they were ruining it for everyone else.
The girls swam a lot of the time in the pool (I'm glad I had it set up) LOL. I'm glad its over I'm still trying to wake up this morning I'm sooooooo tired.

good to hear it went well. A bit of bad timing, but i just bought a book about great "brain games for kids". Has all thse activities suited to different developmental levels, written in part by a developmental psychologist. Not sure if it has 10yo in it though...
35kg lost. (November 2005 - October 2006)
15kg gained again (as at October 2010).
Back to the drawing board - Let's do this thing!
