The maternity payment will be $5000 by the time you have bubba :)

If you need any Centrelink advice, let me know, Im an ex employee ( I was a families specialist ;) ) and Dave still works there ! It will save you time hanging on the phone or surfing their not so customer friendly website :)

No worries Rach :)

Doctorly advice - go to the doctor and get your iron levels checked, and make sure you're up to date with all your immunisations, and if you aren't sure, get the doctor to check your immunity to rubella.

go to the chemist and pick up some folate supplements, i think there's a few "pre-pregnancy" multivitamins out there but you really just need the folate. if you're low in iron, the doctor will tell you to get some iron as well.

good luck! :)

That's great news Rachel! I'm so happy this has all worked out for you. Have you got any baby names picked out yet?

yes we have chosen a boys and girls name (even before i am anywhere near pregnant)

BUT i cannot tell anyone :( I promised hubby

All I can say is, both first names are song titles, and both middle names are surnames of famous musicians :p as you can see we are quite musical ha ha

Probably safer not telling anyone the names you've picked!

Every time my fiance and I come up with a baby name we love my sister claims that she's already picked it as a baby name months ago so we can't have it. I've told her it simply comes down to who has the babies first. Not necessarily because I'm that keen on the names, but because I'm sure it'll get me a little nephew or niece quicker if she thinks she'll be able to steal the names that way.

Congratulations Rachel. Very exciting. I dont want to mention there is an informative forum "www.essentialbaby.com.au" as I dont want you leaving here! Do check out what you can eat or not because there are a few dos & don't that are important to follow eg, not eating raw processed meat like metwurst. Also do consider iodised salt as iodine has recenlty been identifed as crucial during early pregnancy. Mainly, enjoy the experience & Good Luck!
