I'm getting outta here!!!!

Postby SarahC » Wed Jan 16, 2008 10:48 am

No, I'm not leaving the forum  I'm leaving this office!!! I am being "seconded" to another area of council (I'm a local government employee lol) meaning I will be moving out. And moving to the civic centre which is RIGHT NEXT TO MY HOME (well, I just measured it, and it's 1.75km away, that's close!).

So, I will be able to walk to and from work and/or walk home at lunchtime. The 3.5km return journey is exactly the same distance as my usual lunchtime walk here! AND I will have work to do  This is good because I won't have the continual worry of "have I gone over my internet usage limit this month" / "am I going to lose my job" hanging over my head, but means I may not be able to get on here so much :(

They're thinking of starting me there next week  I have to clean my desk! There's two and a half years worth of papers and rubbish all over my desk.... I can see a dead moth, god knows what else has died here under the mounds of paper! I guess I will find out....

Congratulations on the secondment ! That's awesome news :)

I too can walk to work, it's about a 3km return trip, however I have one of the biggest hills in the suburb to conquer to get to and from work :?

Have fun cleaning your desk :D

Yay Sarah! That is great news :) That is awesome that you can walk to work. Incedential exercise is great plus walking home from work is a great way to clear you mind and get out in the fresh air :)

Good luck with the desk cleaning... sounds like it might be a bit of a task lol

Thanks! It was funny, I was driving past the civic centre on my way to work this morning and I thought, I wonder what it would be like to work there and how would I get to work if I worked there, would I walk, what time would I leave etc. I think I must have known!!

That's great news! I live within walking distance of my uni and it's the best thing ever. It's about 20 minutes walk, so I can even pop home for a quick lunch sometimes.

Good luck with the desk clear-out!

Thanks guys :D It will be great to have something to do, and to not spend the day doing absolutely nothing. Should give the old self-esteem a bit of a kick along, and *maybe* help me out with my awful eating habits... or maybe that's hoping for a bit much, but you never know :)

Yay, I cleared out EVERYTHING today! :D My desk is completely empty... and, CLEAN. There were about a million dead bugs and an inch thick of dust, it was soooo gross, but so satisfying to finally clean the mess that I have been living in for the last two and a half years :D Starting at my "new job" on Monday!
