Uncle KRudd's "Big Buck Package"

Postby CrimsonThunder » Thu Apr 09, 2009 11:07 am

Anyone got their "stimulus money" yet? I got mine yesterday! I was like heaps excited when I saw it in my bank, wasn't expecting it so early!

What you guys doing with the money if you get it?

I didn't get any. I'm too poor to deserve an economic stimulus package apparently.

It sucks that they said students get $950 and then said its only if you claim youth allowance, so you only get stimulus money if theyre already giving you money every fortnight! What about the students who cant claim youth allowance and actually need the money?

It's an odd system, that's for sure! I am looking forward to getting my bonus - not in my account yet! But I'm planning on spending some of it on my credit card debt.. and I'm going to spend a couple of hundred on an exercise bike to have at home :)

Luckily Joel is getting it too - he doesn't qualify for Youth Allowance (apparently I earn too much - but I certainly don't earn enough to fully support him comfortably.. grr!) but since he worked a fair bit part-time and full-time in the Uni Holidays, he paid tax and is therefore elligible for the bonus.. whew!

I feel sorry for you EWQ - it's an annoying system!

I'm on Newstart, so I've not been entitled to any of these extra payments that the government has thrown around in the past year :(

You should join me in my non-spending pledge, Miss Sonia. I've decided that since Mr Rudd doesn't think I'm worthy of stimulating the Australian economy I'm going to avoid spending money. And if I need to buy any luxury items I'll buy them from overseas... from offshore websites where possible.

I haven't got mine yet but I've already spent it - on my holiday to Thailand. Bet EWQ is pleased with that one :P

EWQ would you like me pick you up anything from NZ next month? Wool jumper maybe?
Sorry to read of your pain in the butt situation though. Shame it's not a win-win situation for everyone, especially those of us that would truly benefit from the package.
