Dominoes Pizza

Postby Downsizeme » Fri Mar 26, 2010 8:09 pm

So I'm assuming everyone has seen the new ads for Dominoes "biggest loser" pizzas, think they come in around the 350cal mark, whats everyones thoughts on these?

Personaly I think it's a gimmick.

Everystore will make it slightly different so the cal's will never be the exact same.

If I am ordering pizza I would get normal stuff and just try not to eat the whole pizza, this way I get to enjoy it.

yeah that is the way I see it as well. I have their brochure here and really the only control is in the crust, as all toppings get put on by operator. Saying that, depends on how strict their portion control is as a business. Subway for example has their 6 under 6 range and slices etc are pre determined. It might be a good way to go if you really want the "take out" option. I make my own pizzas (from dough) so not really an issue for me, but curious to see how everyone sees it.

I think it promotes overeating. Go the normal pizza and limit oneselves to a serving size with a salad on the side as a filler. Better yet, make your own using pita bread as the base and using the fillings you like - that way you know what's going on the pizza.

I'd like to know how big the pizza actually is...??

I'm actually a little disappointed that the biggest loser has aligned themselves with a pizza place - I guess enough money will do that

I agree with the make your own thing....I've only just started doing that myself and honestly I think they taste better!! YUM!!

.....hhhmmm....pizza....

tried the chicken pizza..yuk! Dry tasteless cardboard, not nice at all.

Prefer my own. Had one today for lunch in fact - Rocket & parmesan pizza....homemade dough rolled out to size of a small bread roll plate, fat free semi dried tomatoes, smoked garlic, rocket, mushroom, onion, capsicum and small amount of mozza grated, plus a few shavings of extra strong parmesan...beautiful..and it comes in at around 350cal for the whole mini pizza.

lol Sara, well if those chicken scallops were anything like the pizaa - yeah! Cardboard would taste better!

I have a pizza maker, does a take away style pizza in 4 minutes, best damn thing I ever bought. It also comes with an deep dish attachment to make a fritatta or zuchinni slice in, and i use that for a healthy lunch alternative, as I can control the calories / ingredients.

I like the pizza maker because I can make a big dirty meat feast lagged in cheese for my husband :D , and I can make smaller healthier pizza for myself, like the one I made above, without feeling like I am missing out on 'take away". We have pizza one night every weekend, keeps me sane after watching my intake all week long.

highly recommend them (a friend put me on to it) I make my own dough in the breadmaker, but I know my mate uses bazaar bases or frozen bases. You can't beat fresh dough, and apparently if it is made with spelt flour, even better. I am going to try that as soon as I remember to ge the spelt flour, so will let you know! Best 140 bucks I ever spent, especially when you work out the couple of pizzas plus delivery every week, it paid for itself in 4 weeks.

I hate dominoes pizzas normally, i would just use wholemeal dough, or pita bread and make my own. I have a pizza maker too and it's fantastic! I think in general it is better to make your own foods from scratch as often as possible, so that you can see exactly what is going into them. If i were going to treat myself to pizza, i would just go and get one of the yummy ones i like and eat a couple of slices only.

I use little white corn tortillas as pizza bases, as they are only 70 calories a pop!
