Portion Size

Postby Pegasus » Sun Mar 10, 2013 9:56 am

I was wondering...
I have made the unbelievable Bircher Muesli Recipe(It's the reason why everbody should eat breakfast everyday IMO)
The recipe makes enough to serve two 840g in total.
So I am assuming that I halve that for one serving (as I have done)
I have been eating half of the mixture and sort of feel like it's too much to be eating....mind you I have not been dieting right in the past and was so into 'small or nothing method'.
Can anyone clarify that i am eating the right amount or is there a set serving size for this recipe?

Hi
If you are talking about our one on the site we have made it in sizes for 2 however if you feel it is a little too much then divide the mixture into 3. Some of us need a little more than others and it can be quite filling.
This recipe will last for around 3 or 4 days in the fridge so a batch wont go to waste.
For our delux recipe we have added dried cranberries and geated pear which i love.
Hope that helps.

Thanks admin for the reply, just in time for breakfast this morning.
I was talking about the bircher muesli recipe on this site.
As I said in my original post,in the past I was trying to diet on my own and had the mindset of 'small or nothing' (which clearly wasnt working).
So when it came to the portion size for breakfast I was feeling guilty to be eating so much.

So now that I have an answer I will halve it or divide it by three depending on how hungry I am in the mornings. :D

Appreciate the help

Always make sure you have a good breakfast. Err on the side of generous for breakfast, you can always adjust your lunch and dinner accordingly. A good breakfast will kick up your metabolism and set you up for the day. Be guilt free :D ...its the best thing you can do to be healthy. When I was super obese I never had breakfast and it probably was one of the main reasons that I was super obese!

The recipe makes enough to serve two 840g in total.

I can't understand what you are saying in this sentence.

Are you saying that each serve would be 420g. That is a huge amount to eat for breakfast for anyone, let alone someone on a diet.

I would suggest that a suitable amount would be half a cup full of muesli. Not more than 2/3 of a cup. if you eat a cup that would be enough for someone who is marching all day with a 22kg backpack on their back up hill and down dale. I know cause i've done it and that's what i found when i ate a cup full of rolled oats for breakfast. It lasted me well until lunch time.

Hi Andrea
http://www.weightloss.com.au/recipes/breakfast-recipes/bircher-muesli-recipe.html
here is the link for the recipe that I am talking about.
It says that it makes enough to serve 2
I haven't been eating the 420g portion.
I make it last four days. :)

Our portion size on the website is 351g per serve.
Each portion contains 1/2 cup oats, 1/2 cup yog, 1/2 cup oj and half an apple.
Our suggested serve sizes are suggestions only as everyone is different some need more and some need less.
Just wanted to clear that up.

Sorry 351g. not 420. Why do you have a weight measurement for a whole meal?

Not sure what you are asking 44....a whole weight measure for a whole meal...we do per portion....if you are referring to this can you be more specific on what your query was. If not then disregard this message.
