Well some of the flood water is moving through the river...we went and had a look at the barrage yesterday and all it's gates were up and the water was just thundering down....so far so good, no local flooding....yet.....it is raining in all our catchment areas and they are saying that the flood water we have now is nothing....it is still coming! I wll try and post a photo of the barrage gates soon!

yeah they are hailing it as the return of the "big wet" for the north! HOpefully they haven't jumped the gun!! there is expected to be 2-3 times that amount coming through in the next few days, so the gates will be even higher...when we were there yesterday the water was busting through the sides of some of the gates...bit scary :?

Yikes, that's a lot of water! Could you send some if it down here to Melbourne?? lol. We had floods here in 2004 (I was in Sydney at the time) - the Yarra river, which runs thru the city, broke its banks and flooded Southgate and the [email protected] (sorry for the funky spelling, but that word is censored on here :? ). I had some great pics too, don't have them anymore :(

Hope the flooding doesn't get too bad, and everyone's houses stay safe!

Thanks guys so far so good down here, except I notice they are flooding bad up north! We are having to keep our eye on the developing cyclone in the gulf as if it heads down south, we will cop big time flooding as most of our river catchment is out west! 3 are in flood at the moment, hence the water coming through at the moment. We have 18 000 megalitres per day passing through the barrage, but Sunday it is expected to be 30 000 megalitres per day. This could cause some concern as well as the low off the coast of Cairns that could turn into a cyclone very soon. If the river here breaks its banks we will be facing flood water where we live...here's is hoping it wont come to that stage!!

I'm soooooo over the heat too...we're not flooding down here (no water in sight actually) but it was 41 degrees today and 39 yesterday...I went out for a walk early but even then the sun had a real sting to it so I cut the walk short...the image of me having some kind of heatstroke or collapse and no one being able to lift me was not a pleasant one

Hope you stay safe Ally and hopefully autumn comes soon for everyone
Cheers, Mary

If I could find a ticker for measurements it would say I'm on the way from a waist measurement of 134cm to one of 70cm (currently at 129cm)

hehehehehehe Fairy!! I guess I will be able to take Ian Thorpe's swimming spot if I was swimming against the crocs!! LOL  So far so good people's looks like the water is going to stay in the river at this stage...we went and had another look at the barrage today and the water is so much higher than it was when I took the piks the other day, but I forgot my mobile, so no new pics! However if you look at the second pic I posted the other day in the bottom right hand corner there is a concrete slab....well it is completely covered with water now and is nowhere in sight! We are still keeping an eye on the low in the gulf and the one off the coast of Cairns......
