I hate you GEORGE!

Postby lollilova » Thu Mar 08, 2007 8:25 am

Not sure if anyone has been watching the weather or not, but Cyclone George is coming my way!

I am starting to freak out a little and I just need to vent...

Cyclone Tracy (you all will remember that one!) was a cat 4, with gusts to 217kms per hour, they are saying George is a category 4 with gusts to 250kmph.

At the moment we have been issues with our first alert (blue) and it looks like it will hit just south of karratha.

NOT HAPPY JAN!~

So today I will be stocking up on supplies, like beer, wine and of course water. The diet goes out the window today! (or in this case I could write I am throwing caution to the wind!).

Will keep you updated, as long as we can keep power and phone on (the last major one was a cat 3 and we were without the phone for 2 days).

O Gosh - how ghastly,

Stay safe Bianca, fingers crossed that it all swings around and passes by, leaving you unscathed.

Take Care

Well we are in Yellow alert now...

Still freaking out but doesnt look like it will hit until tomorrow morning around 6am... at this stage. The slower they move the more insense they are.

Here is the link to BOM for anyone who is interested in its progress.

http://www.bom.gov.au/weather/wa/ Go to the Tropical Cyclone Forecast Track Map Image - System 1.

I really should go and start cleaning up the garden now... I just want to sit in denial and pretend its not coming!

Having been in a few scary cyclones myself, being a Cairns girl originally, I know how you must be feeling.

Batten down and stay inside!!!

Hope it passes you!!

Thanks for your happy thoughts.

It now looks like it will hit around Port Hedland, which for us is good, we will still get the winds but not so destructive.

I feel sorry for anyone in its path though, it is 2pm and the sky is dark as dark and the wind is picking up by the minute. We nearly have to shout over each other to be heard... and it isn't even going to hit us!

I'm sure you know all the the things you need to do to prepare yourself and your home to the best of your ability (if not, contact your local fire or emergency services center for advice). Just do your best to be prepared and that's all you can do - apart from hope like hell it peters out.
35kg lost. (November 2005 - October 2006)
15kg gained again (as at October 2010).
Back to the drawing board - Let's do this thing!

"You can't change the winds, but you can change the sails"

"Reach out and take control of what lands in your lap"
