Shoes...

Postby Mandie » Sat Mar 10, 2007 5:26 pm

After buying yet another two pairs of shoes today (totally cute!), I realised I may have something of a shoe fetish...

I love shoes. I have so many pairs I can't even count them all (and they are scattered throughout the house because they don't all fit in my room!).

I never really realised why I loved shoes so much until I watched the movie "In Her Shoes" a while ago.. Toni Collette's character said something like "shoes.. always fit".

It's so true. Clothes shopping can be fun, but it can also be a nightmare - when the biggest size doesn't fit, it's the most horrible feeling ever. Having to walk into a "fat girl" shop, or even "old lady" shops (I'm only 23!) can be really depressing. Shopping with friends is horrible because they can fit into the cutest things, and I know I just have to watch.

But shoes - they do always fit! (okay, maybe not the strappy ankle things or the boots, but most). I can find a pair I like, and pick my size - no-one laughs, and I'm not ashamed to tell people my shoe size. They look good, I buy them! Ta da! I'm normal!

Does anyone else feel the same way?

Oh Mandie a woman after my own heart :D I just Loooove shoes :D I have a pair for every occasion, and then some. It isn't that I am not ashamed to tell people my shoe size etc, I have been in love with shoes since I was a little girl (a very long time ago). I also keep my shoes for a very long time. I even have a pair of brazillian leather "cowboy" boots that I have had for 21 years  Yes they still fit, and yes, I actually still wear them occasionally, the last time being for a fancy dress party. :D

Mandie, my 3 year old would just be in heaven in your cupboard. I have to just about keep my shoes under lock and key. I have the most georgeous photo of him wearing a pair of underpants and a lovely pair of black velvet stilletos with gold trim down the back of the heels - I think that he is going to take after his Mum - at least he has good taste.

Nikki, you have a beautiful shoe collection

*envy*

Remember the episode in censored and the City when Carrie wants to buy her apartment and adds up what she's spent on her shoes and initially thinks it's $4000, not $40,000! There goes the house deposit!

Wow Nikki what a great shoe collection! I so wish I could have half as many as you have! I cannot stand shopping for shoes, it is so depressing... nothing ever fits. I see really great shoes and try them on only to find they gape, or that the smallest size is a 6 (I'm a 5!)

Sarah, have you ever tried Angels shoes (I know that they have one in Sydney - so they probably do in Melbourne. They specialise in very small, very large or weird feet. Lolly used to get her shoes from there, as she has very short, wide feet.

I am so looking forward to fitting into the correct size shoes for my feet.....I have to wear 10 - 11 size shoes (to fit for width) but I had my feet "professionally fitted" by a shoe store and I am only a size 7, but because Australia don't make a lot of different shoe widths (like England) I have to wear 3-4 sizes up to fit....I can't wait to wear the size I am supposed to be!

Sigh  I am large boned, 6 foot tall and I have a ladies size 12 yes 12 feet. I live in men's runners, thongs, and boots  I dont own heels or anything, because I just cant get them to fit. Their are a few "big foot" shops around, but for a pair of feminine shoes it will cost between $75 and $200    I dont have that kind of money for shoes sigh
