Shooting in Melbourne

Postby milkyway » Mon Jun 18, 2007 10:45 am

http://www.theage.com.au/news/national/ ... 71854.html

I was about to leave for work today when something inside me said, 'nah, stay at home and work today' so I rang my co-worker and told her I wouldn't be in the office today. Looks like I made a good call! The shooting happened on the west side of the city (I work on the east side) but I know plenty of people who work around that area.

I was just saying to another co-worker that whenever I hear of shootings in Melbourne I always associate them with the mafia or drug turf wars and figure if you're not involved in that world, you're safe. Those shot today look like ordinary folk like you or me who were just on their way to work :( So sad

I am just dreading the blame game that's going to happen next.
Just keep moving! And don't be lazy...

The traffic on the west gate was horrible today so i arrived at that place later than usual.. normally i would have been driving through there at the time in which it happened.. isnt fate an unusual thing..
I feel so bad for the men who were trying to help the woman.. little did they know the lunatic had a gun.. It really shows that there are some people left in this world that care about the well being of stangers...

Ok, finally got onto my Brother in law, he is fine. Gruswashere, you are right, its funny how fate works...he would have been at the place of the shooting but his train was delayed (cow on the tracks!) what are the odds of that??

What a sad, sad story. As grug said it is good to see that people are still willing to go to the aid of strangers.
In a world full of people only some want to fly...

Apparently they have named the guy who did the shootings...so it wont be long until they get him if they haven't already.....

I was appalled at the car accident with the druggie at the wheel who has killed his 2 young children and took off....it is a sad world when drugs take over your feelings for the safety of your own children and partner......the news last night was that they didn't know whether to withhold bail or not... WTF??? this guy has disappeared once, do they think he won't do it again???????

Yeah i heard that one too Ally...its jsut disgusting...I think fair enough, if you are enough of a f*ckwit (sorry couldnt think of a better word! :D) to drive drunk or under the influence of drugs, and potentially die, at least do it when ur alone, why take your kids/passenger with you? There was a story lately around our area, a guy who used to go to my highschool was on his Ps, at his 21st bday, so about to come off them, and got drunk, drove his mate home and smashed into the side of a mountain, killing the passenger and not himself....he'll have to live with that forever...you would think ppl would have more common sense than that?

Yes I have no time for drink drivers...my best friend was killed by one 6 months before my wedding. I find that there is no excuse acceptable it is just wrong and I think the justice system is way too lenient (sp?) on drink/drug drivers.
