Hey just heard on the radio that NBN (channel 9) are going to show a special on the floods at 5:30pm on Saturday 23 June which is tomorrow if anyone is interested to watch it. I don't know if it is only NBN watches, just letting you guys know.

the government are offering a payment for those affected by the floods/sorms in the newcastle central coast area of nsw. you have to meet certain requirements though and upon talking to centrelink i have been told to lodge my forms due to the fact that our house was inhabitible and unsafe whilst the storms took play as we were without power for a few days and we had a baby.

no your not being nosy at all! many people have always lodged their forms and got payment already. i told mick i would be happy to have enough money to replace the food we lost and the candles etc we had to use. plus our shed was flooded and theres a cupboard in there that belongs in the house we rent that we had moved to the shed awhile ago to make room inside and it was damaged by the water and we will have to replace it probably.

hey gracie although we didnt have as much damage as some people, we did have a tough time in the dark for many hours! it is good that theyre offering assistance to people here but i hope theyre fair in handing out the funds because i know people who have received the payment and didnt have to go through as much chaos as others.

good luck with the forms kate - even if it doesn't seem like much, using those things and damage to others etc still mounts up quickly. it's great that it's happening fairly quickly after the floods though.
